After years and years of hard work, what does Intel do to people ?

They have two choices, they can retrain them ( they say there is a shortage of engineers ) or lay them off.

Which one do they choose? You all know the answer.

So, if your 34 been there a few years...you know in a few years they will want to get rid of you.

What do you think this does to motivation ?

Just curious. Did TMG get the worst EB multiplier in the company again?

It was an awful rare nice spring day in Portland yesterday. Today back to cold and gloomy so don't feel guilty ignoring the family and working.

Hope all you Inteler's got out and enjoyed that wonderful good weather with their families. Or, did you have to go in for your daily TF meetings... I am sure you are all looking forward to you 2.5% raises for your 70 hours of work and many more hours online on your crap laptop and on your crap Samsung phone!

Oh yes pray you aren't the 3-5% forced distribution that make you the next ACT

A couple decades ago we tolerated horrible management and getting treated like $hit because the options and benefits were great.

With every process node we saw the stock double. New fabs get built and opportunities galore. That was when BK got s---ed up into the stratosphere where a person of his competence has no right to be. But no doubling can't go forever.

TMG and intel truely had a chance for world wide domination if they only had seized the opportunity given them and take the whole pie and also evolve to a more caring organization.

The only company in that space these days are Amazon and Google. MS and intel truely had a unique opportunity.

But things are so dire the only thing is anything and everything to just survive.

HR is only around to make sure management doesn't get sued.

GPTW 20 years ago, $hithole now. Feel terrible for all the young families that need 20 years

You hit the nail on the head. BK IS THE PROBLEM, not the solution.

I recently retired after 25 years in TMG (Oregon). Many great memories, work hard play hard, celebrate, drive the stock, management that cared about employee development. I have nothing but the highest regard for the PTD organization. The worst thing that ever happened to Intel was promoting BK to CEO and then going out and hiring Jaba the Hut (Murthy), a re-tread with a less than stellar leadership resume. I can't imagine just starting out there now. 60 hours at the plant + computer + phone time at home. You are on 7x24. I found a job making less than half and enjoying a great quality of life. I was a highly compensated senior engineer and saved my money. I work now for fun, community engagement and health insurance. I would never recommend the current TMG to anyone who wants a life and to remain in possession of their soul.

What is it interesting?

Engineers on all 7x24? Almost every other company realizes need multiple shifts of engineering. I hear where intel has one person owning something many companies of a GL and four to five engineers over two shifts managing the same thing.

For all the grief you wait 3-5 years get a green card than got a couple kids in school to trap you for longer.

Look forward to 2.5% raises... minimu stock anymore as well as no appreciation.

I know very few people in TMG who if equal work was available without having to move they wouldn't leave in a flash, especially those on 14nm and the poor souls on 10 and 7 where the pain is just beginning and to last for many years

Pour souls indeed....
