Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Fewer ZMAPs today than yesterday!

On the Kmart side, yesterday, Scott Glenn posted that some ZMAP positions were eliminated but I have not heard who or how many. Since next week starts the new year, I assume realignment will be announced next week as well. If ZMAP numbers were reduced, anybody hear about DMs?

Yep, we had a front end lead ask to see a receipt for three carts worth of stuff that a few people were trying to walk out with. They stopped them and they had no receipt. The front end lead called the AP to come to the front. The AP came out and made an apprehension. The police arrested them for theft. The AP had it all on camera and they were convicted in court and had to pay restitution. The front end lead who initially stopped them was fired for violationg company policy. How does this make sense?

I just wonder what would have happened if the front end lead would have just let them walk?

Just as a heads up asking to see a receipt constitutes as "stopping" and will get you fired under policy.

We have the problem of people in the community knowing we don't have an AP and the police are not going to get involved in someone stealing under $500 worth of stuff. We have people who take whole shopping carts out the door but we are not allowed to stop them. We can ask to see their receipt but most of them just run out the door and push the cart down the street to a waiting car and get away. There are no cameras in the parking lot and who knows if the cameras in the store even work everything is so old and outdated. Seems like a good plan to liquidate the store without having to pay a liquidator and then just write the theft off of taxes

It was announced yesterday. The writing is on the wall .......all store level AP positions will be eliminated in favor of remote monitoring. The added "Area Managers" will deal with multiple stores under FLS, Kmart's, and Sears Auto Centers formats. According to the letter put out......The AMAP is now a component of our “Interdictive Response Team – IRT”. This role is responsible for consuming and processing KPI’s coming from our data tool – Agilence 20/20 and taking action. The purpose of this team is to be dynamic and responsive and to address issues before they become insurmountable. The AMAP will work at the direction of, and in partnership with the ZMAP using outlier alerts, health monitoring (old speak BPR), and exception reports to address problems proactively (or slightly reactively). Most importantly this role will work across formats within a geographic market to address pressing issues immediately. Some of the things that this role will be responsible for include;

• Complex internal investigations

• Shoplifting blitzes in non-staffed stores

• Inventory investigations

• Training on operational, margin, and inventory losses (MCC, APRA, POS, DSD, etc.)

• Audits / Assessments

• Safety Awareness

• Supporting shrink and safety meetings

This sounds like an APM position but serving multiple locations across all 3 formats. I found 172 job postings for the Area Manager's positions and they said current openings for APMs would not be filled. With all the hints that were given in the communication, it's easy to come to the conclusion that store level AP departments will be cut in the near future. The only question I have left is ....will the increase in internal & external loses eat up more than the cost savings???? YES! (So I guess I didn't have a final question after all!)

If only these companies would have workers who would help you, but the times I have gone there, there is no one to help you. It is fine for yourself the best x way x you can

They deleted Zone positions but added market and other positions (higher than store level). As for the stores I don't believe that has been announced yet. Honestly, I don't know how this adds cash flow to the organization.

don't know what zmap is but it seems to relate to theft? We have a big homeless population close to our store who always ask for cigs (even the butt you are smoking) And I tell them I am Working...as in why are you begging from a working person? (most are younger and stronger than me) Three days ago a d---beat out by our break area just ask me if it is true that Kmart has No security and can he just come in and get what he wants and walk out. I told him Metro Police will answer the call. The real fact is we do not have any LP anymore. The store is a free for all for thieves and the good workers are eliminated due to restructioning. I've always heard that it is more profitable in some situations to just go bankrupt. Hence- give the store away? What else figures for this insanity?

AP was getting to be very top heavy anyway. Way to many bosses. No need for a lot of those high pay positions.

Getting rid of AP makes sense. Disposal costs will be lower if half the junk gets stolen first.

You should always, always, always type out a description for any terms used for those not in the know, like ZMAPS.
