so here's some bits of puzzle for you to chew on. The company awhile back mentioned dynamic routing and how certain areas will be removed from our routes and given to other contract companies. This falls in line with a few things one of which ATS will handle areas 1,2,3,4, usually these areas are the first to be upgraded. So they will get fiber first. Areas 5,6,7 will be handled by other contract companies until further notice. Those who choose to stay with Altice will have about four years before they are let go. They vaguely touched on this enough to tell you your only chance to retain employment is to go to ATS in February when they start offering it. If you choose to stay your gone in four years period. Those in Brooklyn will also be gone due to the me too clause in the current contract. Altice will no longer be a field service company they will handle the business side of things. Although they claim ATS is an extension of Altice they will treat it as a separate entity requiring those who stood behind to reapply for a position they have no intention of giving a union member or those who stood behind.
At this time if you notice Brooklyn is completely shut out of the whole ATS plans and offers of separation.
If your wondering who will take care of the RF side of things it's going to be the many contract companies already doing it. The reason techs who choose to stay with Altice will not have a chance to jump on board in four years is because they know techs won't like what they see. We will be getting paid by the job not by the hour. For this reason dynamic routing comes into play. They already said awhile back that along with the lost areas we would get one job at a time. They also mentioned briefly this would take place with ATS field service not Altice. Your pay and your overtime will be under complete control of the dynamic routing system. You cannot fully utilize this system if your techs get paid hourly. Than everyone would milk their jobs and get nothing done. The purpose is to ensure maximum profit for company whether your slow and lazy (get less pay) or produce average to above average job quota and get your base pay with possible bonus.
We will all be contractors period. They already mentioned we would be working for other companies as needed as well as out of state. No union can stop this it was going to happen no matter what. All this fighting and name calling helps no one. Change is coming and like it or not you either accept it or look for other work that's really all any of us can do. Cablevision is dead. As contractors your medical has been reduced and cost more. Your tools will be limited if you lose them you'll buy your own or get written up if it happens too much. Your parking tickets are limited and can also lead to a write up. Your sick and personal taken away because as contractors you lucky you get any at all. Everything that has happened and continues to happen are the birth pains of a contracting company. The sooner you all accept this fate the better you'll be.
