Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Cooled down.....

I think it's good that this site has slowed a bit. It helps when Hon and ALT aren't doing things a million miles an hour. Glad they've slowed thier pace a bit.

Still think the WFH policy is messed up and think they should give those displaced by more than 50 miles was offered an option. Relocation or severance would be the right thing to do. I know many are still WFH and no consequences that I see but nothing will be done

The standard answer for VRIF denial is you are too good or your job is too important. What other reason could they possible give? In reality they look at the cost of your separation and your likely hood that you will leave on your own. Everything, including the WFH, policy gets down to your manager. If he/she is experienced /well connected that person will let you do it and not say anything. Many newer bosses are worried and toe the line. I have worked for great bosses who suddenly quit /moved/ were told to move and the new person was no good. Another thing that is out of your control

Hon sales have no where to go but down, but really the corporate office doesn't care. They want a smaller company with fewer employees and cash - for their pockets and for buybacks. Yes they want the "Old Timers" out. They don't need that knowledge anymore in the new Hon and want the expenses off the books.

I am a WFH with 2 hour drive each way option. I was given the talk by HR the 2nd week of January and I have to tell them I will be non-compliant or drive the 2 hours each way. I was denied the VRIF and have 20 years with Honeywell. So I am about to fall off the cliff this WFH. This is not a don't ask don't tell issue. They are pushing me to find a new job and go away. No offer for severance at all. I am waiting to find out if I will get the exception that has been denied already, or fired or maybe a severance. Those are my 3 possible answers. If anyone else out there has been given an answer, please share! I would love to get with others and get a lawsuit together to get my severance that I should be getting. I was denied the VRIF because I am too good of an employee but I must leave the company because I am a long distance teleworker (with a written teleworking contract).

Dead on jackal. Building control is becoming a commodity play. Soon anyone will be able to do it with parts from lowes. In aero the players are going vertical to cut cost. SpaceX only uses outside parts begrudgingly and copies them quickly. Airbus and Boeing are heading the same direction. Sad part is that this is absolutely inevitable and out of honeywell control.

From high tech to commodity electronics and Web services.

I've not been offered that. I'm driving 63 miles for now at it stinks. My manager tells me there's nothing they can do and I've asked HR and nothing.

I'm in Fl.

WFH has become "don't ask, don't tell" for many, especially if no one else is watching.

Great perspective. I agree and I'm one of the survivors at 34 years and 57 yo.

I'm thinking next VRIF I'd take it but difficult at this point due to age. I'm s "tweeter" and single income.

I can only hope and pray they have Aero for a couple more years.

Hon. "TheLayoff.com" site slow down is because Honeywell got rid of most of their long term liability employees with old AlliedSignal pensions. See how easy it was for Honeywell "screw" over so many people and make it the new "Norm". Now everyone will go back to work and forget how pissed off we were. By next month if you remind anyone of what ALT did.. you will be the "Angry old guy". When they start the tricks again, everyone now knows where they freely blog to expose their crappy behavior.

Rumor is that WFH restrictions will "quietly" ease when Davey Cote-x retires in April. Torrance plant lost 14 in Jan., most were VRIF's and "regrettable departures". We are seeing a "changing of the guard", once all us "Old timers" are gone with our awesome old school pensions.. ALT can finish transitioning Honeywell to a "software/industrial" company. In the future only a few (no ISC or production) will actually work for Honeywell.

Honeywell will sell "product of Honeywell" license(s) to 3rd party companies (Like Celestica) and then sell software solutions for the hardware to the customer. Basically a shell the collects money.
