Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Question to RG

Why is it the lower level employees pay for the mistakes and decisions of senior management. I was laid off last year and it ticks me off that senior staff remains in tact. You need to re-read the Follett values, especially the value of Accountability.

Just read that Follett is in business to sell 3-D printers. What is next?

I was layed off last year and was devastated. Now, it was the best thing to ever have happened.

If it happens to you, know that there are other companies out there who treat you, with respect and care about you.

Follett spits on you.

I'm sorry for your job loss.

It is nothing you have done. It is normal to feel sad and angry and grieve the loss of your job. It sounds like you were a hard worker and took pride in your work and for that you should feel good about yourself.

The company is run terribly and by a bunch of executives who care about nothing but enriching themselves. The level of greed is astounding and unfortunately most employees, if not all, will eventually get laid off. Life will go on and new opportunities will appear. You have a lot to offer another company. You sound like a hardworking, loyal employee and another company would be lucky to have you.

Godspeed

We will be chuckling when your stock has very little value. Follett is going down hard, just look at the sales. It is the next sears, circuit city, pharmor. Nobody is buying the Follett companies, there is zero value. Once you lose the respect of your employees, they will never put the company first which is the foundation for all companies to succeed.

It is interesting that Follett severance agreements are negotiable. All employees take note for the next round of layoffs.

Well being a shareholder and ex employee, I hope for a buy out. Sure, Follett gave this to a number of employees in certain incentive plans and some of us have kept the "gift".

I have to chuckle, at least it is bigger than the Christmas bonus

best explanation I've seen to date. follett is a piggy bank for the shareholders. They have to be careful how they break into it. Yep. That's a winner.

I have now reread the Folloee values and you are officially rehired with back wages.

There is accountability, RG is tasked with making sure the family gets the dividend they expect. He does this no matter what the effects on employees or the long term future of the company. The Follett family wanted to sell and cash in a few years ago but could not find a buyer willing to pay them the price they wanted. The family decided to milk the company for as much as they could for as long as they could. Follett bought B & T and went into debt but that was just to let the family pull more money out of a dying company. You need to understand that the this company will go bankrupt but not until the Follett family does everything they can to extract any value that is left.

Excellent question. Forget the noise and the stink form the preceding posts. They think they've been "selected". They think they've been "re qualified". They don't get that they'll be next very soon.

The truth is this management team is doing what the board of directors wants it to do. That's why they have a follett job and you don't. It's ugly, but it's an honest assessment. The company you were proud of and the job you loved doesn't exist anymore.

Personally, I continue on this board waiting to read of follett's ultimate implosion. Just wondering which day that will be.

Better idea is for those still employed by Follett to keep checking this rumor board to see if you have a job or will be laid off soon. Quit checking this board, wasting time and do your job! Perhaps Follett will improve. MOVE ON ALREADY, KARMA IS A B--ch.
