@2mzg - yeah, I thought this was already killed off earlier last year. It's really interesting how every new shiny ball shown on an Intel stage requires serious investment and smaller SOC silicon, neither of which Intel is able or willing to do. Just bizarre.
Well...this should be of no surprise. They killed off their mobile and tablet SoC business late last year. Variants of those same killed off SoC's would have made it into their RTC business.
ARM has effectively won the day in the mobile, IoT and RTC markets. Intel only has HPC left to find any decent margins. That...and IP and compiler patents.
Search for 'Glenview'.

Another one bites the dust, BK really good at this!
Sounds like the talent drain was just too much to overcome.
Ding ding we have a winner
Glenview?
Prima donnas. Spell check and autocorrect can be a bad thing sometimes
GL
Glasses? NOP
SMH. The second letter is L
I'm hearing it is IOT related. And, yes, Wind River is heading out the door. I'll be glad to see this over paid, under producing, primarily donnas going. Have you seen their board on TheLayoff.com
Galileo was never a multi billion dollar market LOL!
@LqCubWH-1igy. Competence can be developed with money and time, but can't tell you in two decades how many projects I watched fail because of heavy handed flawed management. Isn't that the story for every failing technology company 🙄😉
@1orw - I never minded the lack of competency - I always felt that could be learned and developed via targeted resources. However, they were remarkably consistent in their inability or unwillingness to get structurally set up for success. Without the adequate targeted resources and framework, every new thing was/is doomed. And FtF days. Oy!
There are so many markets that intel should exit as they have neither competence nor structurally set up to be competitive.
Amazes me the arrogance and stupidity of intel management who thinks lots of money and x86 success in a monopolistic environment translates into a couple FtF map day of x86 monkeys into a real and high probability success strategy in another highly competitive market.
How many projects could i list in the two decades is laughable. Today the competition is so much more formidable and intel has never been more ill equipped
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm pretty sure pasting an article would violate copyright law, and get any poster booted off this site.
G = Galileo? If RTC is the market, that that would then signal goodbye to WindRiver (who never got integrated into Intel), and anything and everything in IOT below the gateway. I'll bet that is the case - tiny IA was never going to get off the ground. Intel will never make $2 processors. Never.
@LqCubWH-1tjq can you please paste the article?
I have semiaccurate.com membership. Intel is exiting the real time computing market.
Think ARM Cortex M
I hear the train a'comin....
its coming round the bend...
I ain't seen Graphics leadership...
since I don't know when....
(is that close?)
Germany?
It starts with a G....
Probably some memory market.
I'll bite - I would wager phone processors or something IOT-related - either one will be due to lack of stomach to ever go after low-margin/low-priced MPU/MCUs.
FAKE NEWS
Everything that is negative for Intel is fake news?
Go back to circuit for your fantasy news.
More fake news and speculation. If I wanted either, I would watch CNN.
Anyone with semiaccurate.com membership can share wtf Charlie is talking about?
