The decisions this company has to make are being protracted so the people at the top can get the most and the associates at store level get nothing. There is no doubt in my mind that measures could be taken immediately to rip off like a band aid the excesses that exist, the restructuring that is needed and the elimination of the tech department. These are all decisions that can be made instantly and other areas like copy, photo reproduction, and the like could be pursued. Have you ever been in a CVS photo center? Talk about foot traffic, these are the things Staples should be doing. Take the staff from tech and invest some of those dollars in copy with REAL copy specialists not relegated associates who take the job because there is no one to take the position. Staples could save themselves but the leaders at the top don't want that. That would mean a hit to their 401ks, their parachutes etc. . I hope some who have parachutes the drawstring breaks and the parachute doesn't open. Poetic justice don't you think?

They are testing a new bonus structure for the gm. If you hit operating profit you get a minimum 15 grand and anything over the budget you get 20% of that. I guess they realize sales will never come back so its about maximizing profit
Staples does not and never will pay the proper people in copy or tech. The people filling these positions are cashiers want to try something different or get more hours these people are not Tech knowledgeable or copy and print knowledgeable they learn as they go and don't do anything extra because Staples pay them the minimum and expect the most. Everybody knows this even the people that work at CVS are aware people that work at Walmart photo. Ma and pop shops. Etc....it's the bottom of the barrel. And corporate killed it all for their own sake. Greed and full of what they think they are in life. They don't care about you or your people..they only care about money.
