2017 Layoffs

Over 100 people at Optum were laid off in one day. We were told there werent enougj roles for these PMs to become scrum master's or RTEs during transformation.

Salary increases when employed at United Healthcare are minuscule at best. The only time you will be able to self direct your earning potential is upon hiring and when you accepted at your next job. Carrot is dangled, then they change the targets and make them impossible to reach. It has always been like that and always will. Employees are pitted against one another and all are cogs in a wheel even management. There is no opportunity to help a team member because you will be penalized. Use UHC to stack your resume and learn the business and then move on. You may find happiness. Hard workers are not compensated. Good Luck.

Optum india is also planning layoffs June-17 onwards.

Favorism will same many and high performing folks may be let go by finding on or the other reason.

There were 10 people laid off in my department (IT) the last week of April (2017) and I heard there will be another wave of layoffs. This is in Minnesota.

This is very true. Optum Schaumburg Il secretive about plans. Eliminating positions with easy software programs. Metric applications tightened very heavily last quarter of 2016 to near unattainable levels. Many seasoned reps finding themselves on performance issues... by design so employees can be easily fired with out unemployment compensation. If performance is not an issue, they find other ways...sabotage employees etc. Terrible . This company earns 40% year over year thanks to the employees...but screws them consistently

I was a project manager and got laid off last week. Was with Optum for 3.5 years.

Im I'm certain there will be a lot more UHC has been cross traing provider reps and preauthorization reps all across business lines medicaid , medicare and longterm care policies. So think it not strange all though purchasing the surgical company is bringing $$$ no salary increases have been discussed..
