Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Speaking of old time nostalgia "Not just Intel, dude"....I was just going through my storage room of old computer gear and I found....

My first PC that was has a 286 processor.lol.

And then I found my 386...At the time, I was in high school, so I could only afford the AM386 from AMD, lol...

A few other things collecting dust in my closet

*My dad's ColecoVision that had 4 games including pong

*My Atari 2600. Still works

*My Apple IIe, complete with 64K ram and TWO 5.25 floppy drives

*My first generation Mac that still turns on (the ones that look like a fishtank)

....Oh, if I only kept the Apple I computer..Those are worth like $100,000 at least working...

I bought a Radio Shack 'Color Computer' in 1980, taught myself BASIC. Liked it so much I ended up getting an EE degree.

Yup!!! 40... I've been lucky though. Lived through the dot.com unicorns in the sky days.

Back when Sun Microsystems was the talk of the town, Netscape was $200/share, Yahoo was the only internet company with anything remotely related to search.

I remember the POS Mac OS on the MC68K and then the Power PC 601/603...And then a few generations later..The unthinkable happened. Macs on BSD(Next) and (GASP) x86!!!!!

Future back...During college days, AMD tried to recruit me to work on a "new processor" called the K5.. And further back...I remember when one of my desktop had a Pentium II with the floating point flaw..Come to think of it, I never returned it.

Ended up going to a small scrappy little unknown telecom company in the mid 90ies that no one heard about, called Qualcomm that was working on something called code division multiple access (IS-95 CDMA)... Something we lab rates nicknamed "Can't Do Much of Anything"...It was that or going to Beaverton and work for Intel, when a nice home would have cost $200k and change, lol...Beaverton was nice, cost of living was cheap, but I liked the beach better.

I've always admired the old Intel...New intel, well just plane nuts. Run by a bunch of non geeks and bean counters.

Sadly about four to six generations ago about the time we were in the CRB, PSO, and now BK era nobody cares much these and intel fortunes are gone too.

Collecting a computer these days is about as exciting as collecting old refrigerators.

OP ignore the posts from those still living in their moms basement!

You are going to have to sell some that junk you collected over the years to pay that illegal. Maybe your section 8 apt. complex or trailer-park will allow you to have a garage sale? If not, tell them it's a flea-market, either way illegals won't take EBT card or welfare checks. Sorry Bro!

Hurry up. Otherwise I might hire an undocumented worker that can work twice as fast for half the cost, with superior workmanship.

Keep digging, ditch digger. Don't worry you can fill up gas too in oregon since that's also along the same line of your skills.
