Who is more likely to get laid off? the married one or the single one?
A high rated or knowledgeable employee could be a threat to a manager in time like this so you could be labeled as non essential.
I had a high rating but still got laid off. Its Tool of many tools for HR to pick pre-layoffee's in big corporations. Other ingredients used is "age, race, married/single, have children/don't have children, Pay scale, a Manager who's 1-5 years from retiring and they need to eliminate high rated below workers to make sure they can get there". Today's HR team has a whole hat full of tools and schemes to play, some legal, some illegal, so to reduce staff as directed by the CEO. Reason being, almost always they know they can get away with it without being sued.
I received highest review in the last year but got laid off.. It matters sometimes but I was bad luck worked for a small site. Only the controller and myself, so I got picked..
Performance does not matter anymore like it did in the past. Being highly rated doesn't save you when redundancies are dictated by the area level and not locally.
No, highly rated people are very special, they will be kept and taken care of.
Don't think that good performance review would save you.
The ratings actually matter...fail to update yours, meet with the manager and it will be considered when layoffs come. Always exceed whatever goals they set. Also people with poor reporting numbers.
