Intel is different, look at their profit and profit margins compared to the competition.

Unless you have huge equity in the company you get average pay to subsidize above average profit that mostly benefit the much higher compensation of senior managers. RSU have been curtailed and options elimnated and ESP curtailed from years past. But anyone at principle engineer /GR10 is killing it.

You lower folks get back to work!

If it wasn't for my promotions over the last couple decades and stock options and RSU I'd be behind inflation.

I pity the new RCG coming out starting a family and saddled with 1-3% raises for decades inpossibe to get ahead.

It is clear BK and intel want the best but once in the company those that fail to be more tha. average are treated like trash with minimum rewards and wose offered to door with ISP and VSP.

Keep in mind the average CPI for 2016 is "something like" 1.3% (source below).

(Of course the BLS numbers are horrendously flawed as everyone knows - well those of us who do not have servants who do our shopping for us knows that)

Certainly doesn't take into account regional inflation data. (I don't know what the inflation rate is for Oregon for example.)

But its a baseline to know what Intel really thinks of our contribution. If you get no pay increase - you are actually getting a nominal 1.3% pay cut.

@1bip and what are you doing here? Motivating people?

Why do you bozos complain here? If you are any good get out there and get a better job.

I felt trapped by family and obligations but found out there is a great world out there.. wife and kids were supportive and what a great new world of opportunity.

Not trapped by a narrow minded manager nor a management chain who's only concern is CMA.

My raises and stock is better and most important personal and family life better!

How many of you are working today? I got the day off LOL

All you complainers are likely uncompetitive, low performing, dead weight complainers. If you are TRULY underpaid, then STFU, go interview at other places, and go to a different company that would pay you a more competitive wage. Obviously this is not the case and all you do is whine here.

Hey slaves the reason you only see 2.5% is the other 1% agregate budget is used by the managers to reward themselves

Little known fact, if you see only 2% the 1% is skimmed and left by the managers so their managers have more to reward the managers. Managers save that 1% from all their people and get that rewarded by their boss as a 5-10% raises.

That is why managers do t leave intel, overpaid as they have gamed they system for years!

2% or 3.5% is meaningless and if you're excited about that you just don't realize you're a wage slave. $100K salary = $3500/yr pre-tax. The only way to make real money is with stock - Intel gives little and the stock is stuck in neutral. The smart ones have already left for companies with real stock upside and worthwhile grants. GPTW now being revised to PTW, so shut up and keep your head down.

So since all the managers in my org got 3.5% budget, it means some managers must have received 20%, since 12% are "confirmed". ;-)

@uec got it right. 3.5% for this year. And that after Intel supposedly had such a great year. So you can assume that you will never see a higher Focal budget than 3.5%. Ever.

After huge revenue and profits BK has proposed a generous 3.5%. A whopping 2.5% merit and 1% for promos. This keeps intel in the middle of all companies it benchmarks. Why, you ask, why pay more as that is all you need to pay to keep the slaves working.

Intel about outsized pay and profits while paying average. Don't like it leave and go to growing companies with stock going up and those that value your 60-80 hour weeks.

No increase in SERP or stock so don't look like an idiot and ask in the BUM. Intel ain't your ATM, pay you just enough so you don't leave. Now if you are E or O than you get more as do all executives. That 1% is for you as the others get less.

Those that are average you end up with below average and lucky if you don't get $hit canned. But you get free soda and fruit, GPTW!

Actually depends on age, gender, race...

For example white males over 45yo will get 0.5℅

They are lucky to keep job...

Rumor has it that it's 10%. Less deadwoods who have been purged means more money for us leftovers.
