Ok, my question is why do so many people who were laid off months and months ago, if not more than a year, still have their LinkedIn profiles set to "presently working for NOV"? What the hell ! If I was an employer, I wouldn't hire you cause that is like dating a girl who keeps talking about her ex-husband on a dinner date! Give it up and move on if you want to get a new job!

No worries buddy from what I've heard there will be a lot more having to change their linked in status soon
WTF. Either one has a job or they don't. Like lying about it on LinkedIn is going to help one get another job. Be honest and hold your head high and look forward to what is next and hope that another employer gives you a chance. Have some integrity and belief in yourself. Ain't an employers problem that you have a big family to support.
Pay rise ?
Knob heads on here suggesting that engineers shouldn't suggest they are still employed are delusional, They still have families and bills to pay, have some F Ing respect.
At least there is still the look at me pics, I'm on a Oil Rig
Another factor is the lack of a pay rise and grade money
Another factor is that the quality of LinkedIn has decreased significantly. On almost any thread, all the responses are "interested, see my profile" or something similar. I know some people who no longer use LinkedIn but hasn't formally deactivated it.
I got 60% that's why they told you to keep quiet you got a rubbish deal
Good stuff
I just got a 15% pay raise. I was told to keep it quiet so that others don't get mad.
Pay rise yet
I might change mine to sat at home waiting for a job
I guess the mediocrity of NOV isn't keeping you losers occupied. Chumps.
Pay rise
Or maybe they just haven't bothered changing their profile. Most where probably on only using Nov as a stepping stone to get a better job with another oil and gas company so because they are settled In a normal job they don't feel the need to use LinkedIn. It doesn't seem a big deal to me though if oil and gas companies are looking for people on linkedin I suppose if they have Nov listed as their employer then they are in competition with me but with my lack of work at the moment I might be joining them.
The last post hit it on the head! I think people pretend they are still working at nov because they think it is the best they will ever get. So sad to have such a limited outlook.
I don't even listed on LinkedIn. Was at the company for ten years, but changed careers. So much so that NOV isn't even worth listing. That place is a fading memory. If you're still working there and are holding your head up high with that good ol' boy esteem...take a look in the mirror and realize that this is the best you'll ever do. Sleep well!
In response to bve please don't disrespect my new job as a clown 🤡 I could put a good word in for you it seems you have all the right attributes 😂🤡.
I've just read this post and all the comments and I have to say it's hilarious. Why are people bothered by what someone has on LinkedIn I think that's called stalking. I can only think that they are extremely worried that people who have left nov are doing well and they have lost all hope working for nov. I think if you live in remote areas then Nov is probably the best job you can get but for people who live in towns and cities with their skills I think they have found it very easy to get work that doesn't pay less and actually pays more than Nov. I think people just need to chill and not worry that someone else is doing better than them, if they've left Nov they probably are that's life but if you are willing to stick with Nov on low wages and no salary increase then when oil prices go up you will be in a decent position. Let's just hope your partners are willing to put up with it because that's normally the deal breaker if you are working away your family back home expect a good lifestyle and so they and you should, take it from someone who knows.
That answers that question. Haha
I think maybe you need to re - educate yourself on the use of the English language. Loosing ???? Lol
It's lucky English grammar isn't one of your competency modules ha ha.
Not really, I look on here occasionally to find out any good gossip.
Sadly it had been some time since there has been any.
It seems that only clowns like you post on here now.
What's your agenda?
Are you a very pissed off ex employee or just a guy who gets his kicks from goading other guys who are struggling to make a living and have genuine fear of loosing their jobs?
Don't think the wage rates have increased Ho ho
By this post it seems like current employees are obsessed with ex employees by stalking them on LinkedIn lol is it because they have so much time on their hands with the lack of work at Nov lol
Sadly no it seems, ex employees seem to be obsessed by current employees wage rates and trolling on fb and linkdin
fny - I am in total agreement except that it should be "cuz".
Retired after 35+ years. I can leave it however I please. Surely, you have more than this to worry about than this
Got fired, immediately turned off $200/mo Internet, TV bundle because no job to pay for it. Duh.
We have moved on to more money and a pay rise every year, keep waiting for it to pick up
I wouldn't hire who ever started this post because they don't know the difference between cause and because.
On linked in you should change it to working for NOV in Saudi for a basic wage of £25k and the same bonus day rate as working in the North Sea ............mmmmmm are you proud wish I could be as successful as you enjoy spending your loose change lol I'm missing all the look at me I'm in an airport lounge photos please bring them back ha ha ha ha.
Yes, but leaving an old job on there makes you look less than honest to employers. Tough enough getting a job these days and being seen as having "character" issues ain't going to help the case. Same as the idiots who put fake degrees on their profiles. That is one of the FIRST things that employers check.
Maybe because they haven't gotten around to updating it or are too embarrassed to let the world know they are unemployed -- go figure. Also, they say it's easier to get another job if you are employed. Employers are less keen to hire someone who is unemployed (they think something must be wrong with you).
