Age discrimination is an ongoing subject by many let go or asked to leave during the VERP (volunteer early retirement plan). The Sr HR VP, now CAO, is perhaps the best example where a person with no HR experience was put in charge of HR - passing over many who were more qualified / deserving, but under 40. She was even heard saying NOV is made up of more mellineals now than ever before, so should be led by them. As a result, out with the old and promote the photogenic inexperienced. Examples from Marketing to Engineering and other areas demonstrate NOV's NextGen program was successful in contributing to the "entitled" mellineals and pushing out the experienced who built the value recognized by the market.
Discrimination, bullying, and harassment are rampant at NOV. Personally witnessed several employees being harassed and bullied by the engineering manager at the Stafford, TX, location. The harassed employees complained to HR who did absolutely nothing about it. That manager also hired his buddies to create a hostile work environment for the employees. Fortunately, he is history now and is "seeking new opportunities" on LinkedIn. A--hole...
Good for her. This coming from a white male that worked there, that company discriminates terribly. Look at the management team and they are all old white guys. Women are essentially told "get in your place" and struggle to get promoted, with some exceptions. It's very hard to find anyone of color anywhere near a corporate job much less management outside of their home country. They think because their numbers are about 50% or minority that they are diverse. They count Brazilians hired in Brazil, Mexicans hired in Mexico, etc. as diversity. Director level and up are about 90% old white guys.
Good for her!
