I keep nothing at my desk that I care about. Corporate America does not care about me, so I make no effort to bring a "piece of me" into the office. If they lay me off tomorrow, I can send back my equipment and tell them just dump what is at my desk.
It is just so bloody vicious.
And try not to laugh (too much) when they get confused upon your saying "No, don't need to." when they offer to escort you back to your cube to get your things.
Do yourself a favor. Clean your desk out. I got booted in 2015, but cleaned my office of any personal items 2 years before. All you need to do is set up a link to click on to wipe your HDD when the moment comes.
Might as well be be prepared, since it's only a mater of time.
