Well ... the Apple you described is what is has come to be. But think of when they named it ... and if you were one of its first employees ... "apple"? must have sounded ridiculous.

I am just debating this, for I did feel similarly about DXC, but then I went to ask what if they named it Melon or some such ... it would have sounded to a few others equally absurd.

So I am kind of beginning to accept DXC as a name

Simple search about Apple branding and strategy:

"Apple has a branding strategy that focuses on the emotions. The starting point is how an Apple product experience makes you feel. The Apple brand personality is about lifestyle; imagination; liberty regained; innovation; passion; hopes, dreams and aspirations; and power-to-the-people through technology.

The Apple brand personality is also about simplicity and the removal of complexity from people's lives; people-driven product design; and about being a really humanistic company with a heartfelt connection with its customers. Through these qualities, Apple is positioned as being extremely helpful to people (and businesses) as they strive to achieve their goals."

According to Mikie, the branding strategy is to:

· Differentiates us from the competition

· Clarifies what we promise and deliver

· Drives preference

· Inspires employees

· Guides go-to-market investments

Does the name "DXC Technology" align to that strategy in your mind?

DXC has some work cut out for itself to get the business market thinking along those lines. It took Apple a few years to get there, and they were a NEW company.

Not off to the start the CSC / HPE board was probably expecting. But then again both CSC and HPE bring some stinky baggage to the marketing / branding table. Kind of hard for us to forget that.

No. It's a made up acronym. We should have called it "TLA" -- at least that would have been funny.

Q: What does DXC stand for?

A: DXC doesn't stand for anything.
