This whole thing was not a failure of a single engineer but can be traced back to failures by management - failures by Aicha's direct staff. So of course Aicha was right in saying that it would be silly to fire that engineer, because there is no "systemic" problem with that engineer. Everyone makes mistakes, and there should be failsafes in place to catch them early. But there is a systemic problem with the managers she put into place. And she avoided to admit that.
Yea, the managers apparently think that things get done because of them. The truth is that things get done DESPITE them.
The best part was when Aicha claimed in that cringy quiz show video that she loves driving to Cupertino. None of the people I know who worked in Cupertino EVER saw her there. None of her staff ever appeared there either. But once the project is done, they were all available to celebrate the success.

Congratulations @msu you just described iCDG. Aicha has zero people skills and zero people management skills and it trickles down.
What's the bug?
Whoever the guy was, how about testing? By this logic, if a product fails, a humble engineer is fault, but none of the bunch of waterhead managers over him? Isn't his boss supposed to be more competent than the guy, and able to double-check his work?
