Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Sears and Kmart make political statement by anouncing drop of Trump merchandise.

The fact of the matter is they can say whatever they want about optimizing assortment, it's all a line of bs. The only reason they would announce this is to make a political statement. Honestly, do you really think the are going to make an announcement that they have decided to drop Friskies 16 lbs bag of dry cat food?

Sears has every right as a company to make any political statement they wish just like customers have every right to decide which companies they want to do business with.

I hope customers pay attention and make them pay.

Pretty symbolic of the effort to merchandise the store.

So only the Hillary Chia Pets adorn the display kicked to the back isle of my nearby Kmart?

I bet if I visit the store, the Trump ones are still there, because there's no one on hand to pull them off the display.

@qki, a perfect brand image for trump. Low class man trying to appear high class. Probably a perfect product for Sears and KMart.

Oh please. How well did that stuff sell? How good can anything be that's sold at Sears AND Nordstroms? Sounds like they couldn't decide whether to be high end or low end

Dropped? Or didn't pay their bills and got cut off?

Perhaps Eddie is ticked because Mnuchin hasn't been able to gain any favors from Trump like many here have speculated would happen.

Can a company that is hemorrhaging red ink afford to alienate 50% of potential shoppers?

A few years ago they were going to drop the entire line of Pedigree dog food and eventually all branded pet foods in favor of private labels. Buyers decided that customer backlash would be too great.
