Thread regarding Sears layoffs

$1 BILLION in annual cost savings prediction

1) Destroy (finally) the SOAR BU model, get down to TWO BU's = Hardlines and Softlines.

2) Eliminate all BU Presidents, DVP's, VP's, CMO's and 90% of corporate positions making over $100,000 / year

3) Merge Kmart and Sears regions/divisions

4) Sell the Hoffman HQ, temporarily lease one wing until relocating the remaining ~2000 or so corporate staff to the cheapest office you can find

5) Sell or sublease all remaining real estate

6) Close 50% of distribution centers

7) End all marketing for Sears and Kmart except for email

8) Pray

@wrx you obviously don't know what Marketing is. You should look into the definition of it

im not someone personally affiliated with sears anymore but I'll say that those who think the company should get rid of all upper management are kinda dumb. There are people draining the company dry by being useless all the way up and down the ladder. You shouldn't want to just get rid of the upper management doing this, you should want to get rid of all of those people in the company who are burdens.

And spending zero on advertising? Ok. That makes sense..not really. It should be redistributed to better channels, not removed..

But at the end of the day none of this means anything. You're supposed to invest in the company over time to maintain it. Fix the small holes as they occur. But you guys have some MASSIVE holes to fix and no money to do it.

Step one-

Ask everyone in Management what their job is, and what does it mean to the bottom line.

After most of them say changing product placement, setting up displays in the stores to bring more sales and making it a compelling place to shop - fire them.

Those are the ones that have been drawing high salaries and s---ing the company dry for decades, while the competition who dominates retail sells bulk stacked in a store that resembles an airplane hangar.

regarding email being least effective, agree, but does ANY Sears marketing pay for itself? How's that marketing going? GOAL IS TO SURVIVE 12 MORE MONTHS - CUT THE MARKETING TO $0 ASAP!

@ OP. I guess you didn't know that email is one of lowest performing marketing channels and is quite old school. Guess things are safe in your hands.

Same with Sears district managers and market leaders. The only thing they do in Pittsburgh is schedule conference calls. They are a big, fat expense and do nothing to promote revenue from sales. I hope they are part of Eddie's expense reduction.
