Thread regarding Sears layoffs

it will be the suppliers stopping shipping or demanding cash on

delivery that sinks sears/kmart. Given how precarious the cash flow is supliers demanding cod will kill them.

Are any of you guys in the stores noticing suppliers stopping shipping or less goods arriving or empty store spaces?

Yes, there are supply chain issues in Sears as well.

My Kmart store closes in six weeks, however, we STILL received a full trailer of merchandise from the DC this week. The highest percentage off is 50% for apparel, yet we're receiving other stores' apparel, furniture, seasonal, and other "can't sell" merchandise that it will be impossible to sell it all before mid-March unless the discount percentages rise 10% off everything each week. Our toy section is fully stocked and, yes, we have a well-maintained Easter section. One would think at this stage that the floor gates of incoming merchandise would have been closed...

Pantry is being filled with white goods. Spread really thin. The old white goods section is now shelf free and a big open spot. Supposed to fill with grills and patio furniture. The seasonal isle is filled with grills and patio furniture too.

I am in a Sears tool department. We have shelves and wall pegs that have been empty for weeks. We also have had to empty shelf space to set up end cap displays, but we have a ton of stuff we got over stocked on for the holidays. The big ticket items like tool chest and bench tools but smaller items like screw drivers, sockets and automotive hand tools are not being filled as quickly. I am constantly having people looking or tools only to be out of them. Most don't want me to ship it to them, they just go somewhere else.

Watched Pantry/Dry Grocery thin out to where we have everything multiple faced one deep in my store. Two salty snack vendors stopped delivering in early December. One wanted to get paid directly by the store. Going to assume they stopped deliveries because they couldn't get paid on time by corporate.

Our store is not seeing any signs of a lack of shipments. In fact, they are sending us way more than we can sell, especially apparel. If anything, that's a big fat indicator of waste.

About 70% of apparel that they ship us will sit and collect dust, waiting until it goes clearance, zeros out and gets shipped to CRC as an MRN.

Our store could get by without a truck every week. For our store's (lack of) volume, a 200-300 piece shipment every two weeks is more appropriate.

I fully believe that Sears/Kmart is headed for BK but my kmart is very well stocked. Even summer (outdoor furniture) and Easter shipments have arrived. They put out a mix of Sping and summer apperal. It's almost like they are ready all the way into June. Grocery is still stocked well but just a few months ago this was not the case. Not sure if they received other stores inventory or not.

Stuff still comes into our Sears store but there is more & more empty space on the floor. Partially could be a function of not giving people hours to put it out.

The latest is that cashier hours have to be cut by an additional 50% so MCAs who know how to ring are the new cashiers. Problem is that people working as MCAs don't want to be cashiers. Not their thing. And the store has trouble finding MCAs because more people want to ring overall so it's a poor strategy to treat them like this.

It's almost like the managers need to revolt against the corporate demands.
