Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Yep, today is ax day at Dell/EMC

Got the ax today. Not to surprised and glad it's over. I was not comfortable working for someone who is $75-50 BILLION dollars in debt.

VERY Late to the convo, I know. I'm not at Dell or EMC, this brought something to mind.
When Ross Perot was running for prez in US, he touted his anti-big government stance even though, thru EMC, he made a lot of his money with US government contracts. Now, Dell? You'd think they would know a little better. Though, from comments here,. seems they got what was coming to them ($800million loss?).

Just remember that corporate profits begin with how your children are educated or un-educated and welcome to the real world. If you think you can plan your future working at Dell , you are one sorry sob

Pigs get fat, hogs get killed.

EMC & Dell were pigs, Dell Technologies is a hog.

Any more layoffs in Round Rock or the party is just starting for all LOB's?

got the package last week...very inhumane I would agree and over 40...actually over 45 like the other mentions. I hear they won't pay you the so-called severance if you start a job somewhere else and or they will pro-rate it...its all for them and not a care in the world for the employee or the turmoil they have put you thru....Very sad...So glad I'm not in the environment any longer. They definitely don't do right by people who once helped them be successful. I agree Wednesdays were the day of choice.

Has anyone fired John Roese yet?

It would be good to send that oxygen thief back to his failed networking career.

In response to the Franklin question. As of mid week, 6 that I know of in manufacturing. There were more let go in the weeks prior in different departments. Seems like Dell has a hard on for Wednesday

i cant wait for my turn... it is a teain wreck and candidly this "thing" they assembled is peddling...'stuff' that no one wants, no one knows how to do it properly and "support" / management are both clueless.

I got laid off on as well. I agree, they definitely handle it in an inhuman way. Does anyone else feel that the layoffs are discriminatory?

Sakac blogging today about how all the external storage losers need to get on board his ScaleIO-VSAN train. The EMC VMware relationship is a wreck but considering the number of people at EMC who have a boot print on their back from where Chad used them to climb upwards this is unsurprising.

If Chad's plan is the plan we'd better start hitting LinkedIn hard.

Got axed this week along with 12 others. Heavy internal politics in Dell EMC india for getting the undesirables into the layoff list. Heard from senior sources that lots of layoffs planned in storage group as business climated is down and Mr. Dell wants to reduce the operating costs.

I fit the exact profile noted above, been with the company 17 years and over 45, waiting to get my notice sometime this month also. My question is what are the severance packages everyone is getting? Old school "EMC" packages which were fairly generous, or new school "Dell" packages which I hear are not so good.

I was in my last day of QBR and my sales numbers were not what they expected so they just decided to cut me instead. They just moved my accounts to inside sales. Said something about Mid-market is going all inside sales.

That's why they are dumping all the long-time employees. They made higher salaries. They might have been experts in their position, but that's meaningless. I was at the top of my range. I was replaced by someone with exactly two years in the job. They may be out there, but everyone I know that was let go was over 45 also. Any other way to finance $50B in debt? EMC is dead. Just call it Dell because that's exactly what it is now.

To the person asking about the job postings, it is because Dell is going to replace some of the positions with cheaper new hires. Even if the people they got rid of were better, if they were not cheaper then it doesn't matter.

Sorry for all who got pushed out. I still can't believe the inhuman way people are let go at EMC. No notice - one day you're part of the team and next you have a box and escort to clear out your office. Total BS about value and relationships.

These layoffs are management failing to develop a viable strategy for innovation and growth. There has to be a better way
