Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

Avaya needs to filter support services team

There are lot of managers in Avaya services who are doing nothing and has many years of experience doing nothing. Why Avaya is not laying off them as a first priority in this difficult time. I can tell you about Pune office, managers/senior managers like RG, SS, RS, AA are worth nothing and even if they are fired there will be no impact to business. The Avaya ship is sinking because of people like these.

What a joke!!! Good justification by the way. But the fact remains that you are still sitting in Avaya just because you are incapable and incompetent to sell yourself to the outside world. You yourself do not wish to come out of your comfort zone which Avaya has been providing you from years. You guys are one of those people who got to the top of an organisation through luck, connections and the indulgence of superiors.

On the other hand they are the most loyal employees. They would not leave the sinking ship but prefer to die with Avaya. They will try their best to bring it back on track.

A less than 3 years experience person can do the work much better than what these 15-20 years experience guys are doing that too with 1/4th of the salary. This is where Avaya needs to focus while restructuring.

You get what you pay for. Many of these managers are actually former 1st level support engineers who are useless to begin with. They are promoted to managers and clueless in dealing with customers. The skeleton crew in North America offices bear the brunt of upset customers once the issues are blown up and escalated. It's a repeated cycles with new tech joining, staying for a few months then move on. Cheap is what you get. No incentives for the engineers to stay either.

But this is same sh-- with all companies and not just Avaya.

We do have dead meat in all companies and across all groups - i left Avaya almost 24 months now and trust me situation is similar and in som instances worse - i know that many a times decision to prune resources happen based on costs and that usually pushes all this towards worse
