Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

wow. I heard about the H1B abuse but got more concrete info from lawsuit

I heard that the job postings are real but they don't hire. Instead they wait and then get H1B. They could not find qualified worker.

"The Tech Hire initiative is based on a false premise: that there is a shortage of American IT workers and jobs are going unfilled. As my fellow panelist, Professor Hal Salzman, has shown, there is no shortage of IT workers. In making its case for Tech Hire, the White House is using proprietary, non-governmental, data on job openings from a private consulting firm to make the case that there is a shortage and to justify the program. No one knows the methodology that the consulting firm uses and how to interpret the numbers. The White House compounded the problem by claiming that these jobs are going "unfilled." As everyone knows, except maybe the White House's Chief Technology Officer, there is enormous churn in the IT labor market, so there are always large numbers of openings. Openings are not a good indicator of demand. Of course, if there were many jobs going unfilled we'd see very rapid increases in wages for IT jobs. That hasn't happened since the late 1990s. "

Intel's headcount remained essentially flat from beginning of 2016 to end of 2016. The entire layoff was engineered to dump older workers while the hiring machine went on to replace them with 'new skill sets', what ever that means (you never hear specifics, but what it actually means is, younger workers). The data is there in the spreadsheets that show the cherry picked algorithm that hugely impacted older workers (and the plausible deniability, we used the same algorithm across all...). Meanwhile, the EEOC sits on its a--. BK gets 30 percent raises and blames the BOD for doing this to him, and the rest get 2%. The not so secret of silicon valley. This is intentional, architected, and testing the limits of the law to see what Intel can get away with. As BK's buddy in the white house would say, Disgraceful!

There is not a shortage of engineers in the USA. There are a lot of unemployed engineers, be they hardware or IT types.

There is a serious age discrimination issue in the industry, just ask anyone you work with over 40 if that is true. Or ask anyone over 40 who was laid off and is trying to find a new job.

This is not about education or skills. Even if you go back to school and get a masters, few will hire you as they want the younger workers who will work 12 hour days 6 days a week to stay in this country.

As the engineers who are reading this get closer to 40, I ask you, do you think Intel has your back ? How safe is your job ? What is your strategy if they ask you to go like they have so many before...

Keep your eyes not where THIS WEEK ON WALL STREET, PLANET MONEY, or MARKETPLACE are directing attention, namely the H-1B Foreign Worker Visa. However, Trump's Swamp, as now noted by THE REAL NEWS NETWORK in assessing the Cabinet appointments compared to the Bannon Campaign that harvested White Redundant (Replaced Worker) Rage and won the displaced Working Class and Social Contract with: ""In the end, there are no workers, or little guys on the Trump team. Only the allies of rainmakers Robert and daughter Rebekah Mercer (and their hired mathematicians and electronic trading gamers), the billionaires whose political hedge pushed Donald Trump into the White House."

Here's how the Corporate Caliphate will work around the Trump-Bannon Campaign Identity Pledges to U.S. Workers:
