No new jobs just won't layoff the current AZ folks and outsource to Ireland and Israel.
Do you think the "laid off and do not rehire" will get rehired or will it just be RCGs & H1B visa's?
BK (if he hasnt been fired by then) and Intel PR will apply creative accounting and reporting. If Intel fires thousands experienced people in AZ, NM, OR and CA, and hires 3000 trainees, they'll meet the commitment. No one holds the government or companies accountable, and 4 years is a long time with lots of excuses for slips and misses. IOW, I'll believe it when I see F42 producing something that sells.
9000 more to go to make up for last year. And unlikely to be jobs for core Americans, more H1B's. Stupid Trump if he believes it!
F42 was nearly production ready at the end of 2012. We were moving tools in when they pulled the plug in it and stayed in F12/32. Its much more than a shell. And it won't be 450mm wafers. That's a long time away.
@wkt - Not sure on 450mm - here's a good link for many opinions. The $7B price tag, though, suggests Intel may use F42 as the transition. It's kind of a TMG Hail Mary.

Lots of articles on the 2014 Fab 42 shuttering announcement, but this basically covers it all. This confirms that the building was only a shell, with only HVAC set up.

I for one, Welcome the soon-to-be Samsung plant.
meh, too little to late for the patient.
Anyone know whether 7nm will be built on 450mm? If so, it's another reason why they will need less people.
It gets interesting to see BK dancing and flopping around Trump to keep his H1B pipeline gushing. Read the number of times the word "American" was used in today's announcement on fab 42. If it were useful, why has it been sleeping for 3 years now?
More alt-news. The press, however, can easily call up archives. I can't wait to hear what Stacy Rasgon asks BK at the Investor Meeting tomorrow.

BK doesn't give a rats a--. He's on his way out before this gets delivered.
In theory the 7nm will deliver 4x the number of chips 14nm delivers. Assuming there will also be a 7nm fab in Oregon, where exactly Intel management expect demand will come from?
This will be the last fab Intel will ever build if it does not capture mobile market share.
BK just wants to kiss donald trump and keep his drones position in the white house
@ibl - "knowing all what I know it was interesting to see trump get played"
Can you elaborate? I'd like to compare notes with you.
Bull$hit. It won't happen. Where's the demand for an additional fab?
I don't think they can accurately predict anything about 7nm capacity needs at this point.
knowing all what I know it was interesting to see trump get played
They would need to take on more debt since they dont have net cash position. This may work well for BK because the govt will buy intel products with deficit spending and help keep earnings and stock up for some more time which lets BK continue to lead for more time. I doubt you will see any dividend growth unless they are willing to take even more debt and leave bigger problems for successors.
Bet it's not going to be good for NM though.
Good news.
