The Calgary office was hit again this week. Some of the laid-off employees had decades of seniority.
With the exception of specialty divisions like Hampson-Russell, I don't think the Calgary office has many weeks left before it's shut down completely. It's so small now, there's little point to keeping it open.
Even if CGG survives this downturn it will be a decimated company, and likely never return to its once dominant position in the industry. The Fugro takeover carried out just before the downturn has crippled it permanently.
