Can any Staples associates verify the number of people who have been let go thus far?

Whatever happened with that showcase facility with "state of the art bathrooms"?

That was so funny to read when they announced that! High tech p--ping capabilities for all associates! I don't recall if they actually do the wiping for said user of these incredible bathrooms!

The entire L & D dept for .com training supporting all US delivery call centers in Kentucky and Halifax are being downsized. We now have to fight each other for the positions that we currently hold or leave. Everyone of us have been with Staples for more than 10 years. We did not see this coming. It s---s! I have given 18 years to this company and have a week to decide whether to stay or go.

To date Staples has cut thousands of jobs in the last three years. From delivery drivers to store employees. Staples is not a company that is long term to work for. People that have families that are still at the company should start looking for a new job now. Do not wait until they lay you off because that s---s to go through. Staples is heading down the path of going out of business eventually. Staples CEO past and present does not care about its employees it's all about the bottom line. The knife is sharp and the job cuts will keep on coming in 2017.

Really a stupid move keeping that thug in region 1.

If Shira is really interested in improving morale she would open her eye and see what a drain this guy is on everyone under him.

I have to give Staples some props for reinstituting the tuition reimbursement for at least the Spring semester, after announcing it's elimination after people had already registered for classes.

The same kind of good will gesture could be made while at the same time SAVING the $250,000 they are extending to the tuition reimbursement. Fire the idiot RVP of Region 1 , end the reign of terror, improve morale and maybe keep some good people.

"Shira was shopping with her dad today while the layoffs were happening"

On one hand, that is pretty crappy and disrespectful.

On the other, every round of layoffs there increases the odds someone will eventually go postal, she is probably betting sooner than later.

My condolences to those that lost their jobs this week, There is life after this crappy company and I hope you all land at a good job with a solid company. Staples is going down the drain, it is just a matter of time.

From what I hear so far it was only 1 RVP and 8 DMs from retail field management. This is not enough considering the reduction of the retail footprint, They are just showing their stupidity by not taking advantage of these layoffs to be rid of the RVP or region 1. But again he was likely protected by his buddy the SVP.

I really hope he gets it Friday. There is room to cut more than 1 RVP and definitely more DMs.

Good luck everyone, if you got out with a severance it was probably the best way to go. In the future they will rely on firing for BS reasons far more often to avoid these costs, and each year will be progressively worse.

Can't confirm #'s but as an earlier poster stated Friday will be the real day of reckoning. Cuts are in GT (IT) as well. Going into an "Organizational Changes" meeting later today so we'll see what shakes out of the tree at that point.

Also, don't forget to wear Red on Friday to support Staples, the CEO, and the annual bloodletting of hardworking employees whose only shortcoming was working for a bunch of near sighted arrogant failures. Enjoy that 8 million buyout former CEO. Hope it comes with a kick in between your legs.

They will probably keep it under 500 to avoiding having to announce the cuts to the labor dept.

Heard some retail DMs were let go. No info if it was isolated issues for poor performance or the beginning of larger layoffs and consolidation. Hopefully RVPs are next, especially VS.
