As I received messages from friends threat they have been "let go" I look back on my previous career and think of how much of a joke it was. Multiple wasted meeting on how to develop your team to Leaders. Having to take Leaderd as Coaches 1, 1.2, 1.3...etc. I just think of the amount of wasted money it cost to send everyone to this only to waste it away. Sitting in on conference calls for hours when I could have been on the floor, fake meetings with employees on their next step with the company. As I hear who stayed and who let go in the Georgia South Carolina market I can only laugh. Half the reason I left was because I had to listen to conference calls and listen to "Leaders" who could barely speak clear and say " ya no whatta mean" after every statement. This is probably not true for other markets but I do know for a fact in the GSC. The other half is that underneath this glamour of AT&T is that they don't really care for their employees. Case in point is the insurance coverage. Large deductibles for managers. When I left I realized we all where getting worked over. It looks like tenured employees are getting let go and the so called "less qualified" managers will stay. I'm writing not as a surplused employee but as a previous employee who has seen the light. All retail managers know what it's like to come in and work your butt off and get very little credit for your hard work. The focus is always forever changing in your metrics but are told only to focus on the behaviors. I will promise this to all you folks that have been surplused, you will find something better. For all the managers that have been lucky enough to keep your jobs, realize that the next step is store closures. Everyone has a target. No one should have to live that way, especially when it's your career and one you have worked so hard towards. My thoughts and prayers go out to all you hard work men and women managers of AT&T.

I just quit AT&T today. Like the original post said- no more side by sides, audits, useless conference calls, etc! You can do it too! The enormous amount of relief is unbelievable! I know I'm so much better than this. #happiestdayever!!

Be grateful you only wasted 5 years...I wasted way way more than that. I am trying to look at the positive....the reaction of my reps. I never knew they cared for me as a person and appreciated my efforts. On the other side, not one kind word from another manager, just a lot of "I'm so valuable they kept me". They transformed into working bees in one month's time after slacking for years. Won't last - people are inherently what they are. Makes me chuckle. I no longer am chasing the carrot. No more audits, conference calls, State of the Store interrogations, store vistits from the gods, inventory counts, being less than truthful to customers to meet goals and color coordinating accessories on hooks. No more conducting side by sides and trying to find a miss to write people up. Not that I did that...probably why I don't have a job now :) No one will spend their day watching my every move on video. I was actually laughing and humming today at work. What a wonderful feeling.....the rat race is over. The peace of mind of closing this door far out weighs the stress of being unemployed. Embrace the fact that there is life after AT&T. Why couldn't I take action before the layoff...I knew the environment was toxic. Thank you for your thoughts. Confirmation of what I already know helped more than you will ever know. Wow I'm thankful I caught this! Makes me feel a little better for waisted 5 years of my life for this place. I am not one of these slack a-- people who got promoted based off who's a-- they kissed. I came in day over day and gave 100% to my rsc's, followed the guidelines and ensured my stor... ahh f--- it, I don't even care to vent anymore. I will just sit here for the next 20 days and watch them pick up my slack.
