Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

How does vacation gets calculated when you quit at beginning of the year?

How do they calculate vacation to be paid when you quit? I quit and I haven't used up vacation for this year so I wonder how much of that would I get?

I figured it was best to jump off the sinking ship while I could

Yeah that was one of the perks of this merger. Starting this year is you use it or lose it

Depends on the state. In California, any unused, accrued vacation must be paid out on your final paycheck. That's the law.

This is also why several tech companies started implementing the "unlimited vacation" policies. You can take an unlimited amount of vacation, as long as management agrees to the duration. But you don't accrue any vacations so if you get terminated, you get nothing.

As far as I know you only get paid out if they fire you, at least in MA.
