Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Who did your (Sears) store lose this past week?

We lost 2 ASMs and 2 leads. How was your store affected?

A very sweet lady who is an ASM. She takes care of a disabled spouse. They gave her 18 weeks of severance pay.

At our K-mart store we lost our Hardlines ASM and both our pricing leads. To compensate for the loss of one ASM, our Footwear Lead, Softlines Lead, and HR Lead have had their responsibilities increased and are now opening and closing the store.

"We lost our Operations Supervisor"

We just gained an operations manager. We did lose the shoe lead though.

Too bad about the new position being eliminated, but that is the way of SHC. In our store in the last few years every position that was a step up or a raise has been eliminated within a few months of a person taking the position. In our store no one, I repeat, no one will take on new responsibility for fear of being let go within a few months.

I just wonder if this is some type of collusion to eliminate higher (ha,ha) paying postions without directly saying so and is this legal? Seems like a sneaky way of getting rid of higher, more qualified emplyees without facing some sort of backlash. Any lawyer out there?

We lost our Operations Supervisor, which was a new role just created before fourth quarter.

In my Sears store, the remaining supervisory staff are being elevated in responsibility. People who started working here a short time ago now are going to have to open & close. Some are up to the challenge. Others are not.

For whatever reason, they hung onto a lead that does not do any work. Ever. Ever. Makes a bad situation worse for everyone.

I wonder how we will cover all the hours with so few leads/managers...

2 ASMs. One probably with whatever the maximum severance is as she'd worked for Sears her entire career. At least I hope the maximum severance. Another one who I hope did ok as well. He was a hard worker who related well to all levels of employees.

On the Kmart side, we lost 1 ASM, Shoe Lead, Pricing Lead, Frontend Lead, Receiving Lead, and looks like we're about to lose the APM due to the consolidation of Sears and Kmart combining AP for both formats.
