Why such scare tactics about headcount cuts and barely any appear to have happened?

It is much ado about nothing in some areas, it's raining money and promotions at 200 Park in NYC and Bloomfield, CT.
Whoever wrote much ado about nothing is incorrect. We were all long time employees who had their department first dis-mantled being moved to different organizations and then our positions were eliminated after and laid off end of February 2017.
QA is Quality Assurance on the IT side. They're responsible to testing all new applications before they're deployed for use.
Don't want to sound ignorant but what is a QA team? Been with Met more then 20 years and never heard that term?
QA teams all over metlife were told they need to re-apply for their jobs.
There are tons of layoffs all over MetLife especially in the Bridgewater, NJ office. Many were demoted as well. I would suggest keeping your eyes open for positions outside of MetLife.
Whoever wrote much ado about nothing was right. Not the major layoffs as originally thrown out there, travel ban lifted, hiring freeze over, why scare people this way?
A couple more terminated in Wilmington. 30 minutes to clean out desk type of thing for a long time veteran. Seems like they are dribbling them out, maybe so as to not have to give public notice.
Is that English?
Any word on severance math? Outplacement? Service time kickers?
Gosh, and there are areas that are hiring and business as usual! Hard to know if we are coming or going and that is very steessful too!
We were advised 1/31 would be our last day.
The end of February was the date the layoff date
What date was given as their end date for those who were laid off?
Will happen soon. They are trying to consolidate all of the NYC locations onto 5 floors in the MetLife building. Simple math says all these people won't fit. Not to mention, the move coordinators are sending out move instructions like crazy but are reluctant in distributing the new floor plans, so we can see where (if) we are sitting.
It seems that they waited until after Christmas. I know people in Wilmington who were laid off today
