Micro Focus is an inside sales organization. There is
No Way the HPE sales organization is going over whole. This is especially true of support roles like HR positions.

As a fired member, I can apply my own personal point of view. From Business perspective HP then HPE will cease to exist as we know it and Share Holders will earn more and more money. HPE SW without demonstrating something innovative will face severe tempests. From personnel perspective, it’s a politically correct undisputable methodology to fire people by closing offices in countries thus decreasing taxation and Share Holders will earn more and more money Closing offices in countries is like telling customers how stupid they were by trusting HPE SW. Concluding, my opinion is M/F will proceed in lay-offs but not immediately, will rationalize product lines which again customers will be dissatisfied, in order to remain afloat.
Does anyone know what the Micro Focus severance package looks like (or if there is any at all)? I'm with HPE Software and I'm anticipating the ax :(
While it would be fair to expect some redundancies, don't assume there will be lots! The new company will be made up of 70% HPE Software and 30% Micro Focus revenues, so the new company will be dominated by HPE Software revenue. To assume that Micro Focus will dominate and eliminate is a little premature.
But overlapping functions such as IT support, HR, marketing, sales support, operations and so on are likely to see some directly overlapping roles and hence redundancies.
After the merger you can expect huge workforce reductions (easily 10-30%).
