Around 200 from Shakopee. So will be looking forward to January. I guess the rumors are more true then initially thought.

Maybe Trump will take a visit to Shakopee location. It will be announced on December 7th that due to large tax cuts Trump was able to save jobs at Seagate. They will only layoff 390 people instead of the 400 planed. And America would have neutralized another devastating effect of Globalization with tens or hundreds of millions of tax payers dollars.

You lose whatever is not vested ( speaking of RSU's ).

Does anyone know how stock awards that are still vesting are handled in the case of a layoff?

Were there a better separation pkg? When is official end of employment date? Is Seagate going to lose government business because use offshore site to let US people go?

About 400 layoff "special" packing boxes showed up on tco dock. Thus, layoff confirmed. About 900 employed at tco, so 30% is probably right on the money, based n the number of boxes. We are big boys and girls, all the secrecy and business as usual meetings are a joke. Need to just get it done since morale is non existent and no real work is getting done.

I just read the Separation of pay document and I see 1 week per year completed, for less then 5 years worked. 1.5 weeks per year completed below 10 years but over 5 years. and 2 weeks after per year completed after 10 years worked. That is not alot !!!

I have heard 300 to 500 from Shakopee location a month ago, but I thought it was some sort of a joke. One of the positive sides severance package will be give, since it is over the min number, at least I hope so with regards to the severance package. I guess, what happen to Googles guest speaker and how Google Loves Seagate and its products. This must also be some sort of propaganda. But I guess we will see the truth next week then.

If your management at least cares some what about his/her people, they've already given you a heads up on what's happening next week.

Yes it's happening. As for numbers, that's in the air but word is its ~300.

This is speaking for TCO only.

Scrooge is alive and well in Cupertino. For those that don't get laid off, the message will resound afar how little you and your family are cared about by this leadership team.

Nets out the same if they layoff before or after winter holiday. Give X number days notice now, and pay out your vacation balance, or you burndown your vacation balance and they give the X days notice later. Same $$ in the end.

It's all b---s---. They'll steal our vacation first so they don't have to pay it out. These rumors are getting ridiculous.

More than rumor. Tco getting 30% cut Tuesday. Confirmed today by management exit training.

8100 is publicly announced number in June (1600) and July (6500) combined. It was 14% of global head count then. As far as Pearl Harbor Day (Dec. 7, Wed) goes, they can always pull in or postpone a couple of days and I would still credit the rumor as correct.

20% seems much higher than 14% they announced earlier. Assume 3500 have let go or been notified of job elimination, 4500 will lose jobs in the coming weeks. I wonder if the attrition counts toward projected job elimination.

I wish everyone have a happy holiday letting go or not.

TCO to be pummelled next Tuesday, December 6th. About 30% or more (1 in 3) will be released into the cold. People are packing their offices now. Morale is at an all time low. Conference rooms booked for the exit process. Managers are arriving from out of town to lower the axe. Fear, loathing and finger pointing. It seems like it can't get any worse, but it no doubt will ... Merry Christmas!

I am sure there will be some layoffs in December and January, but probably no where near 8500 people though. These numbers sound absurd and made up. That would be every design center in USA and some in Asia, and Europe. I did hear the Pearl Harbor comment though, so I guess we will see the truth by January.

We've had sh--ty executive leadership that makes bad decisions over a long time horizon. How many will be laid off before awareness of this sinks in? Didn't the CEO admit any layoffs are his personal failure? Yep, I agree with him.

It hard to say the news is true or false, still seeing pg IT boss came just to visit the people for 3 days. Cannot understand what is the return for this expenses. Management always right.

You can't layoff people on December 7. That is the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Normandale will continue to be useful for the time being. Before they could think about closing NRM, they'll need to transfer all development to Springtown. Even then, NRM production will be needed to fill needs for heads until volumes drop to the point that they could operate with Springtown alone.

Any effect on Normandale? There was a plan to ramp up the plant and later they withdrew the plan... IT team getting hit by people leaving organisation and not interested people working for less hrs and ramping up in offshore PNG for IT development. What is going on?

Well what in the hell happened to the rumor of next week being the huge layoff? This is ridiculous!! Each month goes by and the "huge layoff" keeps getting pushed.

You can have a large number of new hires if Seagate needs to replace functions (Longmont) for a site that is about to be closed (Shakopee). You need a new EVP if an existing EVP doesn't care to move. There is no growth in HDD over the next 3-5 years that would suggest the need to add staff overall. Corporate needs to staff to maintain functions that are still relevant (until they're not).

You say a huge layoff in January, yet I know several new hires and STX even brought on a new EVP. Add that to a steady stream of employee referral bonus emails, and the claim of a 'huge layoff' doesn't really make sense.
