@znz there are plenty of managers that manage only products. Unless you're saying that managers should make technical decisions, in which case you're dead wrong. They shouldn't.

Not everyone NEW getting hired into Intel is getting HIRING SIGN ON BONUS.

Only if you are a very senior grade with advanced skill set or a person they really want.

I was surprised...

when I came across some new hires that did not get sign on bonus, had to relocate themselves unpaid , etc etc.

It varies by what hiring program you came through.

RED CARPET VIP HIRING is different !!! That's when you are very likeable and hand picked as a person for your specific work experience or skills, asked to travel to Intel office with all expenses paid, they talk to you over a day of interviews, with an endeavor to steal you from your current employer haahaha

I keep hearing about signing bonus. I was hired 10 years ago and never got any signing bonus. Once you get out of the technical grades and marketing management grades at Intel, the salary is not that great and at best only par with the outside market, sometimes under in some geos. You don't get much in the way of an APB or quarterly bonus either, and the RSUs were fewer and fewer each year. What the company offered was benefits and (supposedly) stability as long as you got Successful. That went away with ACT.

@ync how many year's experience ?

They are paying you well enough for just having a PHD.

PHD does not matter because it does not teach you work skills.

Grade 7 requires being able to lead people towards goals and delivering high results for the team or organization.

A grade 7 manager will ALWAYS earn more than any other grade 7 ... managers always make MOST ... than a grade 7 engineer or grade 7 project manager etc..

Many jobs are advertised as manager. If you are individual contributor, it will be changed to PM.

At Intel, they don't believe that Managers can be individual contributors managing a PRODUCT, A INITIATIVE, A Technology etc.

Intel thinks a Manager can only be a PEOPLE manager. Again being backward manufacturing management thinking, typical of semiconductor industry .. they have a long way to reach progressive levels and be on par with rest of tech industry. Better to get out of this $hit hole , what a fuuuccckkked up company. It is not a place for ambitious and productive people.

Intel is great company to rot in, collect paycheck over a long time without any learning or career development because only skills for every job they ave are using excel and power point, and being able to manually count because reports generated to make decisions are pure garbage.

Each grade has grades within in.

You can be low 7, mid 7 or high 7.

Depends on your education, experience, location you are at, what you are going to be doing at Intel (job code) .... you can not compare so easily. I suggest try glassdoor.
