@qmo isnt "full of sheet" as you call it, @1wsj. If you saved you TOO would know that it's indeed possible. I say that as a non-exempt who retired early with a little than half that so..... Very possible if you're smart about saving/spending. Sounds like you're not or you wouldn't have disbelieved him.
Start early to give it time to grow and it's very possible. Probably too late for you to start now. LOL I choose not to work forever. shrug

@KwU5pPH-yme. No fairy tale, me 20 years and 1.3m in the bank, and put three kids through private school, 300k each.
Intel used to contribute 10+% of your salary every year even if you did nothing, these days they are stingy and will only match others.
As BK said intel is no ATM, fire all the old guys and replace with cheap new labor

35 years 3.3 million is very reasonable. I am 20 years and some good financial planning , close to it.
Of course most Americans s--- at money management, which is the real problem.
EE with a $200k+ comp package for the past 10 years buys a lot of breathing room

@KwU5pPH-zzi you are a lucky SOB to have your lifeboat, pitty those who have a decade or less at intel. Gone are the days where intel was generous contributing double digit to your retirement.
Intel profits are still there but gone is the generosity.

I am soon to be an ex-emplyee - retiring after 35 years as an EE, the last 5 at Intel. I sure would like to get laid off and get a package, but even if I don't I am outta here. $2,300,000 in my retirement accounts.
