New Overtime Ruling BLOCKED

"A federal judge on Tuesday blocked a new rule making millions more Americans eligible for overtime pay, indefinitely pushing back the Dec. 1 effective date while he weighs a challenge to the requirement....."

"Twenty-one states challenged the overtime expansion, arguing that Congress never intended to set any salary threshold for the exemptions or to allow the threshold to be raised every three years, as the Labor Department’s rule specifies....."

YOUR MOVE, FOLLETT.

Are we getting paid our new hourly 'affected manager' pay or keeping old hourly rate?

Remember the reason behind the change was to put more money in the hands of the middle class. To force companies like Follett to pay their managers for the OT they routinely put in to complete their assigned tasks if their threshold of pay fell below $47k. Follett just used this as an excuse to lower their payroll dollars and gamed the system to do just that. By they changes they made they demand you do the same amount of work in 40 hours you were typically doing in 50 or 60 hours and were getting set to hound you for requesting OT. Follett isn't going to lose one penny in payroll dollars. That comes out of the the Family's dividends. And yes Virginia, it would be legal, That's what they pay MS those mega bucks for. And that's what the HR department is for. Not to look after the associates interests, but the family's. Merry Christmas.

This is just a temporary court order. It will expire and this will be implemented unless Trump steps in.

While I'm glad to not get my pay cut how is it right to not put the manager 3's back to where they were. I really feel devalued.

So basically, Follett played their hand. Used this as excuse to save payroll dollars by gaming the system. They did the math and made sure the family came out ahead and the associates they value so much got screwed. THAT's the company we work for.

What?? No one got raises. Everyone got cut by approximately 7.5% as they were moved from salary to hourly. This was regardless of whether or not they were making over 47k which was the DOL's min rate to qualify for salary.

Okay I was told by my RM the law has been blocked so I will stay salaried but the store mamnagers who got the raise to 47K will stay there and not go back down to their previous salary. Is that true?

So you guys who were over 47K are staying salaried at your old rate??? Does anyone have actually confirmation from HR or their RM??

But is it worth the stress of knowing more cuts coming, of how they were so willing to slash the stores to no labor. The downfall has been happening for years, is it time to end the misery?

I just heard from RM and Follett did reverse the law---I don't know if it's same for everyone but I'm not being transitioned to hourly now.

Follett made the change because it was a profitable way to comply with the new law. The profitability remains. The law does not. What they did was not illegal. They won't go back. They've already counted the money and figured it into their bottom line savings.

Follett is a terrible company. There is no reason to stay.

You're kidding right? Any reason to make you do the same amount of work for less money.

The family needs their dividends!

So if Follett does not back off are they breaking the law?

Follett said the law is why they made this change. No law, no reason to make the change, unless Follett really just wants to lower your employees pay.

It doesn't matter, Follett is going to cut salaries anyway. They already chose to do it to people unaffected by the new overtime rules.

The DOL's appeal is expected to fail also.
