I thought that we were safe, even tough many competitors were cutting people, do you think we'll cut here in Wichita.

Nope. They will put you on a fake performance plan without objective measurements so they can subjectively say not met. Then they will fire you, no severence.
I have heard that rumor for years how Boeing is buying back Spirit, sounds like just that, rumor.
Last week I heard that there will be voluntary layoffs in June or July and if Spirit does not get enough volunteers, there will either be furloughs or layoffs.
This is for hourly employees.
I heard rumor that Boeing is planning to buy Spirit Wichita back because they don't have enough control over the 737 output. Has anybody else heard this?
I spent 1 year at Spirit as an engineer. Im sad to see how Oklahoma has gotten screwed. The governor ought to sue Spirit. Actually every executive paid abobe mgt level at any time during work at Spirit should be sued. Retired execs included. The buck fkn stops with them.
"Volunteer info" meetings in OK in January of 2016 were monitored by senior management. Those who attended and did not take the option were involuntarily laid off by end of March (coincidence?). With Boeing beginning a new round of RIF's on 1/20/2017 (they already cut 10,000 jobs last year), the trickle down WILL pass along to Spirit. Better start planning your options for other opportunities now!
I heard rumors or early retirement packages being offered after the first of the year.
No forced layoffs some more volunteer layoffs
