Wow how have times changes, x86 hardware is dead!

Years ago we looked to emulate on x86, but with the rise of ARMy, billions per year versus a couple hundred million x86 guess which gets attention.

And we now have 10nm cores ramping at TSMC and Samsung and 7nm shortly after it is no wonder everyone has moved to ARM.

Even intel doing lip service if their 10nm arrives at all!

Emulation is first step to full native optimization which is happening at Apple and every other application, the ARMy can't be denied with billions upon billions served

Intel is down to one rook in the corner.

Remember Surface RT? what really happened there? MS via .NET VM pretty much has all of their codebase working on ARM or any other CPU for a long time.

Intel making something better is no longer an option for a loooooong time,

best they can do is kill competitors. That's the internal culture.

Maybe Altera had an x86 CISC to ARM RISC translator on die with ARM cores?

Intel would do pretty much anything to kill that.

@xsy - I agree, this has huge implications. I also thank you for having realistic timelines - this is not an overnight change and Intel won't go down without a fight. But the writing is now clearly on the wall. And Microsoft lives!
