Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Pushing Back

Can we somehow get organized to push back on all abuses by the management? Has this ever been attempted before?

@2nuf - here is a lenghty thread on what happens when you speak to ANY manager at IBM:

If something is wrong at IBM then you should speak to a manager. Your best option is to uncover who is behind the resource actions, outsourcing and co-locations at Big Blue and then get a hold of this person's manager. I have found from experience that IBM managers never side with their employees when a complaint is raised.

With the exception of the company president, everyone has a supervisor. You need to get hold of an IBM manager to have the abuses halted and set this individual straight.

Sure. It's known as self-nominating for an RA.

Lee Conrad led a heroic effort to organize IBMers for many years, as the IBM Alliance as part of one of the unions. Not enough IBMers signed up. I bet a lot of them regret it now. Without a union, you are at 'at will' employee and they and do whatever they want to you.

There were attempts to unionize IBM for 30 years, bu they never went anywhere.
