In a troubled oil world, the Permian Basin is the gift that keeps on giving.

One portion of the giant field, known as the Wolfcamp formation, was found to hold 20 billion barrels of oil trapped in four layers of shale beneath West Texas. That’s almost three times larger than North Dakota’s Bakken play and the single largest U.S. unconventional crude accumulation ever assessed, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. At current prices, that oil is worth almost $900 billion.

Again, $40 per barrel tariff will rape the consumer. We cannot produce the 20 million a day we need. Put simply, about half our oil would cost double and that means double or better for gas at the pump.

And it is in a different zone from the standard Permian Basin. It talks about how much oil may be there, but nothing of the cost to get it. At our current average $35 per barrel to get, 42 to 44 per barrel to sell doesn't sound very profitable. I would imagine it would need to be over $55 to even start. Not exactly the billions in value as stated. But it does show it's there when the price is right.

So there is a huge over supply of oil in the world and a massive amount of extra oil has also been found....do I really need to explain the economics behind all of this?
