Program changes do happen at all colleges but not with the frequency and disorganization that they do at Ai. Also at traditional colleges they are typically driven by academic quality not to get around the 90/10 rule. And, books are required at other colleges that are written by their professors ( not an administrator like Nenes). But I have never seen an entire major (so all of the non gen Ed classes) with books written by one author. That's the case at Ai in the culinary program.
So stop minimizing and trivializing the issues. This is a real problem and one example of the pervasive corruption at the art institutes.
Program changes happen at all colleges, as does the professor writing books and requiring them. The rest is just anger on your part. Also "journalists" no longer exist. There are only those that can generate click bait to get revenue for their host. Normal college happenings don't sell.
It isn't the s-xy headline but I'd tell him/her to look at the syllabi. The education is a joke. Anyone who looks will notice that students are charged for the same online book for multiple classes (students never check). The VP of culinary "wrote" all the required books for the program and he gets the $$$. Oh, and he is a known racist, s-xist, bigot -- but that is fashionable these days. Have a journalist look at how many times programs change while a student is enrolled. Have a journalist notice how any people who work at an EDMC school with an upper level degree has one from Argosy - oh yes, an edmc school. Have the person with the argosy phd write a paragraph. Have a journalist sit in on classes or even ride the elevators.
I would tell her to take a very close look at Claude Brown, he is an art institute GVP, has conducted many illegal practices at Ai in academics and admissions and has been promoted repeatedly for it.
Shake it for me Rick!
An interesting article on EDMC might be coming out. If you had the chance to say something to the journalist, what would you tell her?
