Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

SRC, are you ready for some layoffs?

Things are about to get really bad this week. Hope for the best & clean out your desk Monday morning before the hatchet falls. You won't want to return to your desk after getting called into the meeting with HR. Keep your essentials with you at all times. Those working, please don't stare at the person losing their job. Have an email ready to click send to your colleagues in case your are tapped.

The oil & gas business is volatile. This should come as no surprise to anyone in it. At least the SRC leadership had the guts to get employees 6 months severance! PDC wanted to give 2 weeks!!! Really PDC? Are you that clueless about people? Heard your management s—s in general and you have no depth on your bench. Age discrimination anyone????

Layoffs will start now and before the EOY - off the books before December 31.

Accrauls have been made for all severance pay.

Reorg, or mention of, should happen around the same tim.

Happy Thanksgiving, Xmas, Yule, Hanukkah - Holidays

Be safe and good luck

Nothing yet at SRC. Was told that the week after Thanksgiving is when they will happen. Good luck to everyone.

Guid advice. It is the nature of the beast. At this stage of the game it's nothing personal, you're lucky to have made it this far and will probably be one of the first to be rehired. Be proud 'n' be humble..

Thanks!

I think it's also worth mentioning that you should backup anything you want to keep. Keep a list of all your SLB contacts (if you haven't connected with them already on LinkedIn). Also start clearing out your office of stuff you don't need there. Be prepared to record your meeting via your smartphone just in case. It will be an emotional time. Last, don't make an a-- of yourself. Be professional about it and understand its the nature of the business.

SLB doesn't do massive layoffs on certain dates anymore. They changed the tactics a while ago. They frequently do small layoffs here and there. Check LDAP with search word, "locked" everyday. You'll see new records.

If this type of post was made by a former employee... move your life forward. Spend your energy on positive things. There's no benefit of doing this for either yourself and others.

Just come to work every day expecting to be laid off. Own it, because as long as you work for SLB, it will be this way.

There are not all lay offs for SRC, those are false rumors. Please come see me so we can talk about it.
