Has anyone noticed that it's getting harder and harder to hire top tier grads from the best schools. SINCE I joined 12 years ago, I have been doing campus interviews, and in last 3 years the top of the class even after flying them out, are turning us down? Not good

The Tier 1 grads look at the old white guys and run, reminds them of their grandparents
ACT was BKs idea and the tip of the iceberg of a chain of events on the Titanic. Once decided and acted upon the fate is sealed and no amount of response from BK nor crew can no change the course !
@1dcx - Totally agree. ACT was poorly planned and executed in the worst possible way. I don't even think they (MCM) paused to look at all the possible consequences such as this one. Or even worse, they simply don't care.
ACT17 will be a good start to disposing of all the deadwood. Pass the popcorn, please. Should be very entertaining. Then they'll find themselves utterly jobless in a world ruled by HRC. Sad.
This is collateral damage from ACT. The people who executed ACT didn't think about all of the possible outcomes.
It's sad. BK fired the experienced people and now we're replacing them with tier 3 RCG's who skated by in school on their level of diversity. Top RCG's know the new culture here is toxic, and they don't want the scarlet "diversity hire" tag.
Every employee should noodle the implication! Intel used to be a desirable destination for RCG. These days you are embarrassed to say you are going to Intel. You need to defend it for many reasons as only a fool coming would for say amazing leadership, amazing products, changing the world, GPW, great pay, stock.
Intel employee's chime in and defend why you work here and why great graduates should come?. We want to hear why! No Glassdoor B$!
The only reason you stay is it is hard to leave and you won't get a raise and have to uproot. The reality is most will be totally screwed when ACT2 and ACT3 come. You know it will, open your eyes. Look at the new initiatives, look at the future products and process on deck, any questions 😉

Smart, informed grads from tier1 schools can see through Intel's smoke and mirrors, why would they come here when they can easily go to Google, Apple, NASA, National Labs, etc and get more rewarding work, compensation and career?
Even tier2 or tier3 grads will only consider Intel if no better options available, and then might do only a few years to gain some money/experience before moving elsewhere.
No career growth and future prospects from this company keep them away, it has been going on for a few years now and only getting much worse after ACT(s).
Apple reinvented itself with the iPod/iPhone, Amazon expanded its book selling focus to selling a lot more plus dominating the cloud market. Google has made successful purchases (YouTube, Android) and went from a search engine company to a successful technology company that is now taking advantage of Samsung's stumbles to break into the phone market. Intel hasn't successfully broken into anything beyond x86, so it's no longer a front-and-center tech company to young graduates. IOS, dozens of failed acquisitions, and one-off novelties like drones have failed to move things significantly, adding to the aura of a company that is struggling to find a new and successful niche that has a future.

Tier 1 schools from the East or West Cost are near impossible to land, Midwest schools much easier but getting harder and harder. Why would the best and bright come from anywhere come to intel?
We are just a manufacturer of old school chips in mature x86 powered computers. Moore's leadership has passed from intel. Everything great about the company is the past. You got an idiot from San Jose running it. A smart gal or gal would be pretty stupid to think he would have bright future or that the company's future is one he should hitch a ride to the stars with.
A lot different when I joined two decades ago. Andy Grove was the CEO, we were changing the world, you'd get rich here as well as have a rewarding career there.
These days any RCG has little chance of retiring well nor ha having a rewarding career there.
Smart kids and smarter employees will hitch their future elsewhere 😉
Maybe it has to do with the fact that Engineering professions are just getting less qualified candidates ?
When it comes to job stability, satisfaction, reputation and reward, other professions like medicine or law rank much higher. smart people do no go for engineering at the moment.
My experience as well. I have been interviewing say the top 3 or r PhDs from Cal Tech. MOST pass even the non US born have been turning us down. Part of it is miney, but also quality of work. In many cases when they visit, they meet the average Joe @ Intel. You can see it in their eyes saying I have to work with that? THEY run, it's a reflection of the average Joe, very dispressing.
