The recent announcement that Broadcom is buying Brocade and selling off Brocade's networking business has forced the potential buyers of Avaya's networking business to push the pause button on all negotiations. With Brocade's (far superior) networking business in play, why would anyone rush to buy Avaya's? News flash... they wouldn't. This has forced Avaya into a reverse auction scenario in which they will continue dropping their price until some s---er actually buys it -- for pennies on the dollar. As this death spiral drags out until Brocade's networking business is sold, Avaya will have to continually reduce its workforce to maintain profits and justify a reasonable valuation. At some point, Silverlake will have to decide if it makes more financial sense to simply shut it down than to accept a ridiculously low price - which would also drive down the value of the rest of the business. Meanwhile the "leaders" are busy fantasizing about the houses, yachts, and women their exit packages will buy them. Too bad their male packages are no so large.
