Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Anyone seen how to start paying Cobra when Intel coverage stops the end of this month?

Trying to find out how to start paying Covra since Intel pre-paid coverage ends Nov 30 this month. Hewitt says they send bills out that won't arrive until after the middle of Nov with payment due by Nov 30th to start the Dec coverage. Not much time to respond, especially if anything goes wrong with the mailings like back in May. Has anyone seen or heard anything different?

My understanding is that termination of Intel pre-paid coverage is NOT considered as a qualifying event for the Special Enrollment Period. Enrollment for 2017 is open right now and anyone can apply. Looks we have to eat the COBRA cost for Dec 2016 even if we qualify for low cost health care in 2017.

Ditto what @zkt says. Have you checked out your options on the open market?

they are pretty expensive - why not look around for cheaper options?
