I don't know fact or not, but recently heard other senior people talking that board bypasses BK and talks to M, S and D directly. ACT was their idea and was forced on BK and RT. In fact, BK tried to resist and controlled the damage by limiting the extent to which the trio wanted to go. All three in line for CEO position are eager to show how aggressive they are in cutting costs quickly. After wearables failure, inclusiveness & diversity is the only BK's initiative board approved. Everything else is coming mainly from M & S.

Perfect statement , " Cesspool of a company"
Sad but that is what it has turned into.
re: funny how they all went on to greater success than at this now cesspool of a company
Sounds like they were smart @2nwv.
I came to Intel from an important customer. Neither my manager nor his listened to me about what my former employer wanted (and didn't).
But they sure did listen to their (clueless, out-of-touch, misguided) boss...
In my 20 years had 10 managers only three ever truely listened to me. Is it by chance those three don't work at the company anymore, one a twice over CEO, and other a senior VP, funny how they all went on to greater success than at this now cesspool of a company
"And if by doing what's right and you do it against your managers wishes, it puts you on the ISP list."
That's the problem: Everyone is managing up and no one feels empowered or secure in constructive criticism. Even at the VP level. Maybe higher.
Success comes from supporting those who promoted you into your job (i.e. delivering on commitments, so matter how nonsensical) vs. actually making good business / technical decisions that might rock the boat. Many at the highest levels have lived inside the Intel bubble for so long that they honestly just don't know any better.
What's so sad is that those in positions of authority just assume that criticism from subordinates, even when well intentioned and valid, is primarily political and self-serving. No amount of market research or evidence will convince people in this mindset.
This is, of course, the antithesis of what Grove, Noyce and Moore wanted but it's where Intel is today.
And if by doing what's right and you do it against your managers wishes, it puts you on the ISP list.
If nothing else, the CEO is responsible for the culture of the company. And Intel's culture is one of arrogance, ignorance, in-fighting and cronyism. Only the politically-connect and cunning thrive. Everyone else wonders whether they will have a job tomorrow.
True palace intrigue.
I think it may be possible 😐 😐 😐 if MCM break up the cohesion between the political groups through layoffs, hiring of outsiders and reorgs etc at top management of the orgs.
Everyone has to be on the in crowd to get promoted, look at the FSM staff under Sohail. It is the same at every level, not about doing right but doing what the boss wants. Now TMG is paying the piper for the decades of bad management!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yes, the last response is quite accurate. All decisions made within Intel are based on local politics. It's a shameful career to think the good work one could or would be able to achieve is overridden by pure politics.
There's too much politics and turf-fighting going on within. Its obvious Directors, Dept Heads, PEs, Senior Managers are spending so much energy and effort in "being with the right gang" rather than getting the job done. And these unhealthy practices trickle down. Lower level engineers also learn that getting the job done is not gonna get them anywhere, so they too "hang out with the right gang". There's too much office politics, buddy-ing to the right people. Only thing saving Intel is the billions that Intel still rake in every quarter to keep the party going. But for how long more?
This is like the officers and captain of the titanic "AFTER" hitting the iceberg.
Between 10nm, x86 sales contraction, and stupid new billion dollar loss initiates the ship is past the tipping point. If they didn't have one or perhaps two of these the three company might survive. Two of the three, 10nm and the new initiatives were their own doing! So first as another 20-40k get fired followed by the executives you can look to this merry crowd as they ones along with PSO and CRB that failed Intel.
OP, you are correct. M, wanted much much deeper cuts, but BK pushed back. In all honesty, I do think BK is in way over his head. He just needs to face the reality that he is no CEO, does not have the brainpower, witt, or the vision. If he was an honest person he would just retire and let someone else lead. But arrogance, pride, and ignorance go a long way when you have self-honoring power.
1274 is gonna be pure evil. with sohail unchecked by holt. glad i left
yep. that's the culture
BS! BK is still in charge of moving the chess pieces and needs to accept the majority of the blame. He doesn't know his A$$ from a hole in the ground! He's just there for the riches, destroy the company, and then retire. Meanwhile he at laughing at all those whose lives he has ruined. Just an evil, evil person.
Who gets to captain the titanic?
Murthy definitely a dog at BK's heels. BK earned it though.
Murthy was totally a board hire to put pressure on BK. Stacy is BK's and Andy Bryant's protege. Diane is the diversity option. The palace intrigue going on must be worse than Game of Thrones.
