Awful place, terrible culture, horrible people, SHUT DOWN BARTLESVILE!!!
Because Bartlesville s---s!!!
The reason most dislike Bartlesville is because they are very quick to let you know that if you are not from Bartlesville and not in their little click they will do all they can do to prevent your advancement!
The company presents Bartlesville in a positive light at the time of hiring. The company is well aware of the failings of Bartlesville but the roles need to be filled one way or another. Once an employee is in Bartlesville the company has little incentive to appease the employee from the perspective of location.
@2jjx- I know of a fair number who are trying to get that done. It's just much more difficult to extract yourself from the tar pit than to fall into it in the first place. Takes more time to accomplish than you think.
If people hate Bartlesville so much, here is the resolution---move! Quit working in Bartlesville!
Personally when I read these Bartlesville comments it appears they are from many different people at different levels, from different places, with different experiences. I do not see any hate in these comments but common theme seems to be small town, dead end, desire to transfer out, lots of comments urging closing it or shutting Bartlesville down. I do suspect that the very outspoken defender is singular!
There is only one hater who is obsessed with this site and Bartlesville. They post over and over the same hate. Seek therapy, it's just sad.
Maybe it is just what Bartlesville projects out to others that is being reflected back?
Bartlesville is not that bad, for the White Anglo-Saxon Protestant; but for the minorities, Bartlesville is bad.
Not clear which extreme is most unhealthy, the Bartlesville hater or the Bartlesville lover. Hard to imagine why the "Bartlesville lover" frequents a site with endless comments on the horrors of ConocoPhiilip, including Bartlesville.
Original Poster here I actually do not hate Bartlesville. I dont even know anything about it but every post I post including ones about my Asset (not Bartlesville) people are always hating on them. I was just trying to understand.
The labs in Bartlesville will be closed by the end of 2016 and the rest of COP operations in Bartlesville will be closed Q1 2018.
The answer to your question is "Because Bartlesville is not shut down yet!"
Maybe you are one of the few filled with hate. The way you wrote the question is testament to that. Move on if you don't like the place or person who controls your life like this matter does. Find your peace somewhere brother.
Zero options in Bartlesville beyond the two current oil and gas firms. Not ideal to have all of your eggs in one basket. In Houston issues at one company more often than not results in a walk across the street to another company. Nice to have options. As noted, zero options in Bartlesville. And so now you understand why so many people hate Bartlesville. Safe to say those most hateful of Bartlesville have high career aspirations. I do not consider maintaining residence in Bartlesville at all costs a career aspiration.
I have lived in Bartlesville for 30 years. Laid off in 2015. Took a job making a lot less than at COP....but better environment. I don't know all the reasons why I was cut, but I don't fault all of Bartlesville just because some who were obvious kiss-ups were kept over me. There are good people and bad people everywhere. I still live here and like the area.
I moved to Bartlesville for work. I moved a family to Bartlesville for work. I have excelled and had none of your problems. Maybe the issue isn't Bartlesville?
I moved to Bartlesville for work. I moved a family to Bartlesville for work. I quickly concluded I would be ostracized for the tenure of the employment at ConocoPhillips as I was not from Bartlesville. Five years into a career I was laid off. The less competent individuals on the team from Bartlesville were not laid off. Why does everyone from Bartlesville hate everyone not from Bartlesville so much?
You got rid of Luby's
