Thread regarding Follett layoffs

HR at it again!

I see HR is doing what they do best, lying on Glassdoor.

"Wonderful Company" nothing negative to report, etc..

What a joke!

A former Follett HR Director told me something along the lines of "learn all you can in your role and move on once your personal sacrifice overshadows any benefit you get from working here, and always be kind to everyone even if you don't believe people are treating you the same way." He left soon after, because he told me he was following his own advice. Sometimes HR is legit, and some in that job struggle with the system too. But others are not so cool and only out for themselves. So beware and read everything on Glassdoor and other sites (including this one) with a skeptical eye.

I am a recent hire at the Follett home office and already decided that I have to move on. I did not understand how bad the culture, negativity, benefits and industry are. I was not aware of this site prior to accepting my offer.

The whole point of glass door is to get a good idea of the real pros and cons-clearly, Follett is not in a good place it's not a big secret. Once they realize that not taking care of employees and trying to mask it with BS they will take a good first step. Upper management is concerned with CYA-nothing more. That's the reality

it appears as students graduate from college and has a Follett store know to stay away. I also think parents even inform their children to stay away from drugs and the Follett bookstore.

The winner of the Pants on Fire Award goes to, follett marketing/hr/recruiting. Lifted straight from Glassdoor (no editing). Pros

Wonderful workplace that cares for employees and the customers. I found working at Follett Software Company a wonderful experience and would recommend it to others.

Cons

There are no cons that I can think of.

Advice to Management

No advice it was a great experience

Here is the funny thing. They mislead new employees and guess what, after going to the expense of hiring them and training them for a few months, the employees decide the culture is poison and leave in a year or less. New employees are not productive for about six months so it is a complete waste of time. I am not sure what happened to Follett leaderships understanding of the business but it is void and vacant.

There is marketing and there is lying. The company posts on Glassdoor are flat out lies.

Follett proactively manages its brand on all social media, including Glassdoor. That was part of my job before I was laid off. All companies do this. The problem for Follett is there is so much Follett negativity on many sites.

Don't blame HR. There are always people in any company that no matter how bad it gets, do not share your doom opinion.
