Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Open Letter to HPE board and Maggot Whitman

To Maggot Whitman and her board of Elitists,

So the rich and useless CEO of HPE calls Donald Trump a demagogue? While you and your flunkies like Mr. Scott Wood are laying off every damn male with a family? Your pet, Scott Wood, is the least qualified but biggest, sneakiest weasel, so I get why you like him. But you have lost some fantastic people in the process. People that didn't stab others in the back like Mr. Wood.

Laying off the males 45-65 is the sneakiest thing you can do, since that is the most unprotected group in all of society. However, you tech companies like to shake your bird cages all at the same time! The MEN that were layed off just happen to flood a market full of 40, 50 and 60 somethings looking to survive.

Meanwhile you are "redefining the roles - Totally FALSE" and hiring clueless, college grads with 0 experience and nobody left to mentor them. That's freakin genius. You give HR guidelines for laying off 10's of thousands of males over 45. Completely unethical guidelines! All tech companies do it. So it must be ok. And I am sure your board of elitists would agree! You and the HPE board are what went wrong with Corporate America. You know nothing about the economy, you have 0 accomplishments, but you were in the right place at the right time. What in the hell have you done for HPE stock? You have ruined countless lives. Meanwhile, PRESIDENT ELECT Trump has lifted millions with optimism. That must freak you out Meg! You supported Hillary Clinton! That tells me you are an elitists punk! To you, the workers are peasants. Just numbers on a spreadsheet. You must be a complete moron to come to the conclusion that Killary Clinton would be good for this country in any way shape or form.

Who's the flaming female gendered anti-male, anti-family Demagogue? Can I get a Meg Whitman? You have done nothing at HPE but sell it off? No evidence to show you have a single accomplishment or actually drove any company to prosperity! HPE morale is at an all time low. You are clueless about corporate economics and customers as a whole. You are even a technological idiot in my book. I hope Trump sets the economy on fire. Why? You and the board are too stupid to take advantage of a roaring economy. With your genius corporate moves, HPE is no longer prepared to compete. The best in the business are now working for someone else! HPE will Fade into the woodwork. But you have your billions, don't you?

On a brighter note, I was glad to see you piss away millions running for Governor! Ha! Of course that's nothing when you have billions to burn. Just think, you could have earned less. Your minions could have earned less. Your employees would have taken less to survive the economy of the globalists a--holes. Can you say Brexit and Trump? Imagine what you could have accomplished if you weren't so damn arrogant? You could have won over the hearts of the entire state of California and every single employee. Just by showing you had some brains and a heart. But you have neither. Long term thinking is not one of your strengths. 20-30 years of loyalty also means nothing to any of you! After all you think employees are stupid for staying....

'Tis the season for you to reflect and repent. You are no different that the rest of us. Have you made a difference? I would argue NO.

PS - Tell your pets to lay of the booze a little. Especially at large Reseller Events. HPE is becoming the town drunk of OEMs. Kinda like Mrs. Clinton after the Election.

Signed,

One of your many victims

5 years from total retirement!

To the women that have said responded that "women they were laid off too". Completely understood. I know many women were laid off. However, by law you must receive a letter showing the age and position (similar positions) of everyone that was laid off with you. Guess what women? I received such a letter. Not a single female in my group. Sorry for showing my "privilege". I can also tell you that ONLY ONE person was under 48 years old. The list was 42 people long. So you tell me how many GD women were laid off? I was not an HPE HR employee when I was laid off. I was an engineer. So I was not privy to that information. Why make my "unprotected" group comments all about women? Really? Show me facts. Do you have the numbers or percentages of women versus men laid off from HP?

Also I am extremely happy in my new position. I only wanted to make some very clear points. And of course the Women (like the stupid Maggot Whitmen) had to make it about "privilege". HMMM.

Working 50 hours a week while attending college makes me privileged?

Paying my way through that same college makes me privileged?

Working 60 hours weeks on my first job to make $14K a year makes me privileged?

Getting my teeth kicked in a role as a "pre-sales" engineer in a startup like Compaq makes me privileged?

Learning anything and everything to beat the competition makes me privileged?

Getting Laid off for excelling makes me privileged?

I guess I am privileged as helll. Kiss my privileged butt.

Now if you don't mind. My privileged butt has to get this proposal done.

Karma will follow those evils and their families and offsprings. We just need to live longer to see how their career and personal lives end.

The "obvious" & foreseeable demise of HPE/HP/EDS occurred when the hiring & promotion criterion was based upon male, white men who had NOT gone through the SED/ESD BOOTCAMP OF ROSS Perot and instead went thru the "good ole boyz" and "posse" network of who ya know...

Welcome to the dark side of "you do not matter"...feel our pain of having watched and been led & rated by you, who admittedly, do & know NOTHING - and we know this but can't speak openly with your phony a--es. You are the reason for the demise of corporate America! U phonies! U think you deserve something for nothing!!!

2cni, this was an open letter that received over 1000 views. I doubt the OP believed that it would be read by Meg personally. Regarding your sentence fragment "partly completely wrong", great oxymoron! Is that the same concept as "jumbo shrimp"? Keep posting doofus, I enjoy a good laugh.

What a stupid letter. She wouldn't read up to the end of the first sentence...

Yes, I understand it's tough when you get fired. But this letter is simply weird and partly completely wrong.

And will Trump change anything? Well, too soon to tell.

I got out before they fired me for being an "expensive resource" - Meg doesn't discriminate, except against older employees, and then only because they are paid too much in her eyes. She doesn't value experience, skill, or knowledge. She doesn't value customer relationships. None of that is her problem, once the dust settles. Wall Street doesn't get that HPE's services are strutting around in emperor's clothing, stripping all the worthwhile assets bare and exchanging them for empty shells (young and dumb new hires) because Wall Street doesn't see people as viable assets, either.

I used to think my loyalty and proficiency at my job would be rewarded; I used to think I had a career. I even thought, as the storm gathered, my situation made me somewhat immune to becoming another WFR; now I see my former coworkers training their contractor replacements before their inevitable disposal when the CSC SpinCo deal is completed.

Meg has never been a visionary. She lucked out with PayPal, being in the right place at the right time. Meg has turned "The Garage" into a chop shop, because she's missed every opportunity to shift HPE's focus to ride the social and technological changes (like overpricing Helion, then dumping it when it couldn't compete with AWS, Google and Microsoft and their 1/4 cost). Instead of cultivating services #1 resource, its engineers, she dumped toxic sludge on them, and continues to dump seeds onto the dead plants, expecting something to grow. Meg is a vapid, empty, clueless idiot.

Not withstanding the fact that many older WOMEN have been WFR'ed as well, John Doe and all the posters here are right on! HPE is a train-wreck and whatever is in the future (WFR or CSC) can't be as bad as the last 8 years have been with HP/HPE. When I saw the news about Trump calling all the Silicon Valley "Icons" to meet, I knew Meg would not be there for a couple reasons. One is because she is politically clueless and backed the biggest LOSER candidate who ever ran... But the other is because she is a phony among the "tech giants". She is like the owner of a fine car junkyard who is parting out all the vehicles to make herself filthy rich. One day Karma will come and smack her down, I just wish I could be there to see it.

While it's terrible to lose your job be thankful it was done before the merger with CSC. CSC is a totally ruthless environment and you only get two weeks of severance regardless of your years of service. As of August 2016 CSC officially ended vacation accrual. This action was taken specifically to avoid paying out unused vacation time for the mass layoffs starting first-quarter next year. Any remaining legacy vacation hours have to be used by December 31 of this year. For those that do survive the layoffs you will become part of an environment that hasn't seen raises or bonuses since 2012 when Mike Lawrie became CEO. CSC uses a forced ranking system in which 40% of the employees must be ranked as 'does not meet expectations'. You heard me...40% !!! We previously had access to training materials but those were eliminated as a cost-saving effort in August 2016. CSC did not want to have to pay the licensing fees anymore. Health insurance premiums are astronomical and CSC hasn't increased the company match for 4 years. The company openly despises US based employees and any new investment is either done in India or Puerto Rico. Welcome to H--L my friends.

awesome post! . fellow wFr dude here. white, male, Fifty Something.

there's a certain irony in the wfr program.

first the severance was no surprise but the whole thing is so well orchestrated I couldn't help but be seriously impressed with how efficient it is... now here is the irony.

I knew this was coming. my job was so inconsequential i literally did nothing for the last 6 years and got paid a f---ing ton and nobody gave a sh--. I think my whole organization was just kept around for the day they needed to trim some fat... I'm so glad it's over... really I am... I'm sorry for friends who are struggling and it s---s but no one could look at this situation and honestly not see it coming...

I never met my manager face to face more than 12 hours in the 6 years I worked here. I had no onboarding or mentoring when I was hired. The job training unless you're in sales is next to nill and what there is is usually very very very amateurish and almost always just a recorded conference call so it's poorly structured and don't even get me started on how hard it is to listen to some accents... not being prejudiced here but you need to speak clearly and not just drone on and on about some topic endlessly with no apparent point... the irony here is that when you get WFR'd you get access to tons of free online and classroom training that is organized by industry sector and certifications. The training that I am able to take retails in the 10K region... Inside HPE you can't find the training you're looking for.. once they lay you off you get handed the keys to the training kingdom! ... awesome... priceless..

I'm not going to say what I did but I had a 6 figure salary and did very little to earn it... DO YOU HEAR ME HP? HPE? YOUR MIDDLE MANAGEMENT IS CLUELESS!!!! YOUR UPPER MANAGEMENT IS USELESS and YOUR EXECUTIVES ARE LEACHES... Basically middle management misrepresents it's organization to upper management and upper management never never never bothers to walk among the unwashed and untouchables... they just believe whatever their direct reports tell them, which is most often made up BS.

No accountability... that's all it is... If I had been in upper management I would have probably sh-- canned half the managers and elevated some people to middle management... but thats not how it works.. each manager seems to be only interested in keeping his or her kingdom in tact at whatever cost.

Another thing... the processes and the way they do things inside hpe is so archaic it always felt like I was in a time warp and it's 1984 and someone is filming an apple commercial and all these people around me are like zombies... In my entire career in marketing, engineering and sales I never experienced such inefficiencies and incompetence... always having to look to vendors to do everything under the sun... we couldn't even figure out how to sell our own products so we had to enlist partners and prop them up and now they sh-- can our people left and right and do all this window dressing to make hpe look good to the next owner.

So here's my message to Microfocus as you're about to take HPE Software off the lot... DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT YOU SEE OR WHAT ANYONE TELLS YOU ABOUT HOW THINGS WORK. THE FRENCH HAVE A WORD FOR IT... IT'S CALLED FACADE ... so get under the hood... scrape off some of that new paint and see if you don't find a lot of rust... that tapping sound from the transmission is not a good sign.... the doors are not really attached and the windshield only looks really really clear because there's no glass in it...

and you can dismiss me as a disgruntled employee but I'm not because I played my hand and already had a job lined up before they WFR'd me... I used my severance to take a vacation and pay off some bills... a new administration is coming in, things are looking up and I am so glad to be out of there I would have quit Jan 1st if they had not laid me off... so I am HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY! ... because I played you HP... I played you... and I WON! ...

Whitman is a lost cause. She will get her due one day. Best thing that could of happened was to get let go. I feel no animosity except pity for the poor folks that are still stuck in the rut and working there . She will not be able to shake herself from the reputation she has made with IT folks. She has now been blackballed by every competent male or female in workforce. Well maybe except for third world countries.
