The last time you had an interview you were in your early twenties. for the last few decades you've been hiding in that cube attacking anyone that remotely questioned your competence. now it's here they day you've been dreading. Just as you thought you might be able to see out your career contributing little to nothing to the world except the ruined careers of those that threatened you - the outsiders. now the monopoly is gone. The birth right is finished and judgment day has arrived.

Intel days are over!
We can't keep referring to our ex-colleague as "poor souls". There had been plenty of warning to them about the upcoming "Holocaust". It's totally up to them if they want to be proactive in extending their careers in legitimate growth companies. If they sit on their decisions and get laid-off and start from scratch, this is their perogative. I won't feel sorry for them.
As one that was ISP, there is truth in this post. No matter what your level or experience "interviewing" again when you are unemployed is a different experience than when I did ITR or was looking by choice.
Soon another 40K Intelers will be doing that. Brush up on the standard behavior and know your stuff. But like the super bowl nothing prepares you as much as the real thing.
It'll be a shark infested and cold place next year when the poor souls get fired!

Time Will Tell
My advice: Lose the flannel shirt and jeans, get a haircut or cut it all of to hide that bald spot, lose the beard, don't talk about your vacation, fishing, boat, new house or how great Intel is. You're not entitled to be quirky and it doesn't mean competent unless you're already a billionaire. Get some decent shoes that don't look like you walked through a field on the way to the interview. Unless of course the hiring manager looks like your current self ... then ignore this.
