Why Layoffs totally hidden although it is in the way to hit half of us? Please share any layoff news you are seeing on the ground.

i got one idea

they could do as they did in France (as far i heard the story)

just sack everyone involved in services/support , regardless skills, level, and no matter if you were exceedinh performers, low or just matching target......

just and only everyone, simply based on country payroll

that s what i would call innovation

nobody argued ... (just look elsewhere for a while;, until it is your turn)

so they are many countries around where you can hit a lot of heads with one shot

(alternative would be to sack couple of tons from our wonderful management but they won t do such horrible thing,

OK, let's analyze this. The CC business has definitely been sold. It is unlikely that there will be immediate large scale layoffs because the new owner is a private equity firm with no infrastructure to support the business. There will undoubtedly be some restructuring post acquisition, but they'll need to keep the company fairly intact until things get settled. HOWEVER, the remaining UC/Networking business is unlikely to be sold in the near term. In order to maintain profitability, there will definitely be a massive reduction in force. The business simply cannot sustain itself with the overhead it currently has. Think about it -- UC is declining. Networking is barely sustaining itself. What choice is there but to dramatically cut costs? Whether it's sold or spun off into a new company, it will need to be profitable and this can only happen if operating costs are reduced. Look for 30% of the combined UC/networking organization to be cut in the first calendar quarter, most of which will come from UC. Sad.

I know for fact some APS folks were asked to leave last week - layoffs are happening but as always within closed doors and in small numbers - This could be precursor to the massive layoff around the corner - In this scenario its best to move on and or atleast look for new options

I work as a senior manager with total 22 yrs in Avaya Inc. My senior director has asked me list of bottom 40% employee in my team who can be asked to leave which can cause minimum impact.

With heavy heart I have to give names.

I know that my name is also in my Director's list :(
