Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

TCO > 300

If the TCO RIF number is not greater than 300, I would be shocked.

Many talented engineers and technicians were walked out the door today. I do not know what the future for TCO is but can say it is not delivering products.

TCO product delivery no longer exists. Someone said it clearly in another thread, "TCO is on the SHR\OKC path to closure". I would be surprised if this location is staffed this time next year. TCO 20+ and 30+ year veterans were let go 12/6.

I am sure other companies and industry will benefit but that TCO Seagate who's who of talent and experience is gone.

It is utterly devastating to see the heart and soul of a once proud MN engineering institution that was a purveyor of many great innovations gutted out yesterday.

At SHK yesterday, It was like a death in the family with many gut wrenching good byes (and some tears) for many consummate professional colleagues you have known for decades. It was a wake were many of the participants were the walking dead. Many of the best and the brightest of Seagate's drive engineering were walked out the door yesterday.

Compliment our management for allowing us to say our final good byes to one another with dignity. My tears and heartache started today when I woke up with the realization that I no longer will be seeing many of my colleagues or go to work at a place that I called my second home.

Now, the grieving process begins. Blessed to have a wonderful family and group of friends and former colleagues around me to lean on in this difficult moment.

The fate of TCO was sealed many years ago by Watkins who favored the Conner Peripherals management. In business, politics always win out.

They yanked helium & nearline products away from SHK sealing its fate.

It is the end of a great ride and an era that I am privileged to be a part of. To all my former colleagues, hold your heads up high. We've had a great career. We've done many wonderful things. It is a great pleasure knowing you.

I walked out of the building yesterday with a heavy heart, but I have no regrets.

Know, it is time to take the next step although I don't know as of yet what that will be. How do I retrain my whole being for a new chapter and a new job? I had a well-worn path in life of the familiar.

I will lean on my wonderful family, friends, and former colleagues for solace and comfort moving forward. God Bless to all.
